I played FO3, NV and FO4 all on release. I have a fallout itch, which do I revisit?

I have all 3 games on steam and i’ve not played any of them since around when each respective title launched.

I have a major urge to play a fallout game again but not sure where to spend my time.
I’m thinking no on FO4 just because of the settlement building stuff.

Any thoughts would be great, which should I revist?

Fallout 76 is pretty good nowadays and it’s on Gamepass so you can play it for free if you have that. There are several major questlines to do at your own pace, the largest 3D fallout world to explore, the best Fallout lore and world building of any Bethesda Fallout game (NV and 1/2 still beat it though), and gameplay that builds off of the strong foundation set by 4. If you just do the major questlines solo and ignore all of the multiplayer aspects and world exploration, there’s at least 50 hours of solid content, and coming from a diehard New Vegas fanboy who hated 3 and 4, I enjoyed my time playing 76

The Outer Worlds might scratch the same itch if you’re looking for something newer. Made by the New Vegas people: Obsidian. It’s a little small but they’re working on a sequel.

fraydabson,

I recently started a play through of fallout tale of two wastelands (3 and NV combined into 1 game) and it’s been awesome !!! Just bought a ticket to the Mojave.

kd637_mi,

Fallout 1! I played it for the first time around 2016 after playing through 3, New Vegas and 4 multiple times and it holds up really well. It and Fallout 2 have become my favourite of the Fallout games.

Would you be down for playing with a mod?

If so you could do The SomeGuy Series for Fallout New Vegas. It provides several more friendly and fully voiced quests.

If you want to play Fallout 4 you could try Project Cartographer combined with Sim Settlments. That way you can fully explore all the neat unmarked locations Fallout 4 has to offer and not worry too much about settlement building.

If you are stuck between Fallout 3 and New Vegas you can try Tale of Two Wastelands and bounce back and forth between the two.

fraydabson,

I’ve been playing tale of two wastelands and it’s awesome !

I wanna play fallout 4 again next with the mods you mentioned + others.

JokeDeity,

Easy answer: NV, because it’s the best. But alternatively, you could try out one of several complete overhaul mods for one of them and have a brand new experience.
