How is this transfem specific? Anyone can wear long colorful socks if that makes them happy.

For some people it is, for some people it isn’t. You do you.

Yeah I’m just saying I don’t exactly think the “[CW: Assumes Viewer is Transfem]” tag necessarily fits because the thing isn’t transfem specific, I know plenty of Enbies (me included) and Transmascs who enjoy Thigh highs.

x4740N,

For me personally imagining wearing long black or pink socks gives me the feminine feels but I’m in the closet currently and living with parents so I can’t buy them

It will depend on each individual but this meme is for people in the trans community that get those feminine feels from long socks

I don’t deny that it will give many people feminine feels, what I meant is it isn’t necessarily women/girl/transfem exclusive, people can enjoy something cute and feminine as a boy (cis or transmasc) or enby (look up femboys or the NB version fembys), which is why I was saying it’s not transfem exclusive and doesn’t really make sense for it to me marked that way, as non-transfem people can do/like things like this as being feminine without identifying as female.

It will depend on each individual but this meme is for people in the trans community that get those feminine feels from long socks

My point exactly, transmascs and enbies (if they identify under trans, some do and some don’t) are sometimes people who get feminine feels from long socks, hence why it doesn’t feel entirely correct for it to be labeled what it is when plenty of non-women can and do enjoy this.

Disclaimer: I am taking “feminine feels” literally as in to describe something that feels feminine, as opposed to ‘something specific to girls’ which feels very incorrect knowing what I know about the separation between gender identity and how people present themselves.

Also, I’m so sorry for you, it sounds awful being stuck in that situation. Hopefully you’ll be able to get out of there and be yourself in the future and actually get to buy some of those long socks.

I don’t get it

Compression socks are an “old people thing” (not necessarily*, but the association is there). So older trans people can easily buy themselves colorful, thigh-high compression socks and don’t even need to explain why.

*Actually compression jobs are great for people working desk jobs, because they prevent legs/feet from swelling during long hours.

WalrusDragonOnABike,

I got a pair from a hospital, so I have that excuse for that pair...

I think it’s about gender stereotypes, the idea that long colorful socks are for girls, otherwise I would say it fits more under the non-specific category.

Lxrduy,

God damnit I did that too, can anyone explain why that’s a common thing?

squirrel,
@squirrel@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

I think it’s one of those small gender-affirming things that one can do.

Smorty,

What exactly are you talking about?

squirrel,
@squirrel@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

That trans people are often attracted to things which subtly affirm their gender, even when they may not be fully aware of it.

Smorty,

Yes, I did understand that. But what did you do that was gender affirming?
