Long hair is awesome, I know that unfortunately it’s considered feminine by gender stereotypes but that never stopped me from growing it out. Did cause problems with my school thinking I was (binary) trans though and trying to corner me with gross questions about “wanting to be a girl” that I didn’t want to discuss with them (was mostly teachers trying to get into this with me).
I (M) have a very long often braided hair and for me its always so funny when at my work some people see me from behind and say something like “hey girl”, then i turn around and have a beard and a deep voice. Thankfully i have been largely spared from harrasment because of long hair.
Honestly outside of the weird issues with my school and a bit of egging online I haven’t really experienced any major problems because of it, though I’m not sure if that’s because most people don’t mind or because they think I actually am a young girl since I do have a condition that causes me to look much younger than I am and also very androgynous.
When I was a teenager I pretty much wanted to be Kurt Cobain.
I got me a badass silver shirt like he was wearing in the Heart Shaped Box video.
Any way, I was walking past the pay phone in a gas station parking lot when this fella said, “hey girl, nice ass.” I didn’t think he was talking to me so I kept walking, then he said, “hey shiny shirt. Don’t be shy.”
I turned around, clearly a dude, and he looked so humiliated. He said, “Oh bro, dude, it’s the shirt and the hair man. I’m sorry.”
I said, “well don’t back down on me now honey, I’m already worked up.”
He then threatened to beat my ass while my friends and I laughed hysterically. Not gonna lie though, I was a little scared. I mean, we were rough hillbilly kids so I knew my friends would beat the shit out of him, but I was still a bit worried.
Hi, i’m Michael Jordan and McDonalds has asked me to tell you about the dangers of gender norms.
Gender norms can be benign and block boys from getting Barbies and girls from gerting HotWheels but it can change the life for worse. Such as stopping girls from doing STEM and boys from working with children. Gender norms had people even kill kids for not adhering to them.
If you are enforcing gender norms: Stop it! Get some help!
i literally just logged in on lemmy and saw the notifications and panicked
I’m sorry if anyone felt this was made with I’ll intent, it was not
as a little bit of context: I recognize this was made out of a template that tends to suggest that the creator themselves to be wrong, but honestly at that point I had already bound some “this but unironically” memes that I liked and though were a lot more common
also, I just thought it was fun and didn’t think much of it since most of my posts don’t usually get a lot of reach
I did realize that the meme did kind of spark a little bit of discussion regarding binary genders, which I think it’s really cool!
do let me know if you think any of the criticisms does warrant removing the post, tho
I agree, that’s not the way to fix it. The way to fix it is to try Skirt go spinny, regardless of gender. Seriously they are awesome, especially in the hot summer, way better than shorts.
I agree everyone should try, though I personally find chafing an issue without bifurcated undergarments. (Which is why I own leggings, lol. Skirt spinny without chafing).
Just so you and anyone else knows Cis and trans definitely isn’t a binary, so if you continuously get reading that don’t match either, you may want to consider something like Isogender or other Gender Modalities and adjust the tests to look for those.
