Another reason to leave Reddit: I forgot how hostile it can be

I’ve mostly left reddit and switched to beehaw, but I posted on somewhat of a niche tech-related subreddit today since there really isn’t a community for that here yet. And wow, I got instantly downvoted twice and the first comment response was rude and hostile. All I posted was a feature suggestion for software that I...

Haha whoops, forgot to refill my meds

Ran out two days ago, had a busy day yesterday, was sure I’d do it today but fell into a FOSS hole trying to setup some stuff and now here we are. Getting the first rushes of anxiety, actual bursts I can feel. It’s only Citalopram, so I won’t be going through withdrawals or anything crazy, but dang this sucks....

Light, interesting reading? Link me your favorite articles.

I find myself needing to read things that don’t have emotional weight for me. I have noticed that most of the articles and sites I frequent when I’m bored, even the previously neutral-feeling ones, are bringing up Tough Feelings for me lately. I need less triggering stuff to waste time looking at, when I’m too tired for...

What kind of discussions are y'all interested in having?

Although I don’t fully agree with the sentiment expressed by this thread, it did get me thinking about leaning even further into contributing to an environment I’d like to participate in. I personally much prefer dedicated discussion threads to discussing news stories myself and reading through the comments it seems like...

Mostly I use it for playing games and your other typical PC tasks, not much video editing and stuff of that sort. Mostly MMOs, sandbox games, RPGs, CRPGs and the occasional sim or 4X....

Do you think PFAS will be the lead/asbestos of our generation? ( www.nytimes.com )

I’ve read more than a handful of articles on PFAS, but this one really underscored just how prevalent they are- concentrated in fish, dental floss, blood donations, shoes, food packaging, explosives, food, water, the air, etc. Not only does the sheer number of them concern me, but the fact that they will be difficult to...

You ever think about how borders and countries are just some extreme rich guy shit that we've all been trained to believe are real?

Like, the only reason countries exist is because some rich guys decided that they ruled this chunk of land, and everyone else just kinda said “Yeah, whatever, I don’t really give a shit, just let me farm and leave me the fuck alone”....
