things have been fairly quiet this week. not much to report.

I left my job about two months ago, and I applied for unemployment immediately. I got a new job today, but I STILL haven’t gotten my unemployment decision. Additionally, my food stamp application was delayed due to personal circumstances. In short, had I not had money saved for an emergency, I would have been mega-screwed....

another slightly late thread but i have been busy for most of today. learning about some arcane internet drama, also reading some books. currently on The Storm Is Here–this will be book 41 for the year when i finish it.

this week is starting off with what i can only assume is a sinus infection, so that’s not ideal. i’m also down two grandparents, which likewise is not ideal

If a game hypes a lot of people up, it will be verified. That’s like, the most important factor… not even the performance, the controls, etc…...

pretty quiet week so far. incidentally, next week is election week in most of the US, so don’t forget to vote on November 7th (and vote early if you can–my ballot just has to be dropped off)

things have obviously popped off this week geopolitically so i’ve been pretty busy trying to bail some people out of very bad decision-making. this has gone mixed to say the least; anyways a lot of people gotta shut the fuck up about geopolitics because there have been 80 unnecessary trillion bad takes this week

Hello there and thank you for being a part of Beehaw!...

I was watching a video from two years ago about different social norms and this showed up. Found someone questioning the same eight years ago on reddit (when it seemed less normalized). It feels so weird not being aware of this shift, even as a foreigner.

I had a dumb phone until around 2011 and I really miss not staring at my phone all of the time. The only thing that gives me pause is my family sending links via text. I’ve tried other ways to limit screen time but if it’s there I’m gonna use it.

All the time I have people come in to work wearing a mask, which is fine normally, good for them, but they are wearing them on their chin, chin diaper style. Not covering up anything. Or at best just their mouth, sometimes. Nobody is making these people wear a mask anymore, so why are they doing it at all if they are just going...

things have settled down considerably since last week; got to see the eclipse the other day which was cool
