What the title says, I’m tired of the trope where humans are the least advanced in the universe....

Well I’m craving something in this genre but I’m a bit overwhelmed and underwhelmed at the same time. So many titles and yet I’m not sure what to read. Maybe you can help?...

Just finished Adrian Tchaikovsky’s Children of Time. One of my top reads, let alone sci-fi reads, for the past couple of years for sure. Wow, what a great adventure! If you haven’t heard of it, it’s about an English sea captain who gets marooned in Japan around 1600, and has to adapt to Japanese culture. Lots of politicking, romance, and decapitation. Very loosely based on real people too....

I realised the other day that I’ve enjoyed lots of murder mystery games and shows, but I’ve hardly read any mystery novels. The only ones that come to mind are Altered Carbon and some of the Discworld Watch novels (all great!)....

I hate it, they translate a book and decide that they want to sell it twice so they split it into two. They did it with every book of A Song of Ice and Fire and yesterday I’ve discovered they also did it with To Sleep in a Sea of Stars. I hate paying twice for one book.

I always say to myself that it is not worth to force books through. I do like 1/5th then I drop it if it did not catch me. Now I’m reading Pandora’s star which is a great scifi book and sandwitched inbetween the great scfi chapters there is this uninteresting detective storyline with zero scifi, people talking to eachother...
