Any sci-fi with aliens where humans are not the less advanced race?
What the title says, I’m tired of the trope where humans are the least advanced in the universe....

Well I’m craving something in this genre but I’m a bit overwhelmed and underwhelmed at the same time. So many titles and yet I’m not sure what to read. Maybe you can help?...
I really enjoyed that book and the whole “alone in space” vibe it gives off. Are there any more like it?...
Just finished Adrian Tchaikovsky’s Children of Time. One of my top reads, let alone sci-fi reads, for the past couple of years for sure. Super well-thought out concepts, good character development, and an irresistible hook that will take you out of your comfort zone when you find out that you really don’t know who you are...
I know it is a known Classic but i liked Animal Farm so much i had to share. Before reading i thought that it would be similar to 1984 or Brave new world which it kind of is but its also very very different. Right from the Beginning i was hooked. I really love Orwells Books but this one is my favourite. I did not expect that. So...
Do you buy physical books you have already read?...
i love asoiaf but it’s hard to start rereading atm of course
I’m nearly finished rereading 1984 and my appetite for dystopian books is whetted. What are some other great ones I should check out?
I have been reading about Hachette v. Internet Archive, but as a layperson with little knowledge about legal matters, I was not able to completely understand the current situation....
I recently found this channel where the guy does really compelling reviews and explanations of books....
Wow, what a great adventure! If you haven’t heard of it, it’s about an English sea captain who gets marooned in Japan around 1600, and has to adapt to Japanese culture. Lots of politicking, romance, and decapitation. Very loosely based on real people too....
Personally, I am trying to read 15 books this year and mix in more non-fiction books.
Question to the physical book readers here, what do you use as bookmark?...
Hi all! I just finished “The Three Body Problem” by Liu Cixin and enjoyed it a lot. It’s got me curious about sci-fi written elsewhere in the world and what cultural differences may appear in sci-fi written from a non-US perspective....
Small Gods: A masterful comic satire on Religious Institutions and Fundamentalism Small Gods is a fantasy comic satire on religious institutions, religious fundamentalism, philosophy, and the weaponisation of religious fanaticism for political power set in the Discworld. It explores how religious beliefs and faith shift and...
Do any of you just buy books to add them to your library?...
I realised the other day that I’ve enjoyed lots of murder mystery games and shows, but I’ve hardly read any mystery novels. The only ones that come to mind are Altered Carbon and some of the Discworld Watch novels (all great!)....
Like, I understand listening to them while driving to work, exercising, doing chores, etc!...
Hey fellow book lovers! I want to read books/classics from all over the world. Please recommend me favorites from your home-country, something you would want others to know/to read. Already looking forward to your suggestions!
I hate it, they translate a book and decide that they want to sell it twice so they split it into two. They did it with every book of A Song of Ice and Fire and yesterday I’ve discovered they also did it with To Sleep in a Sea of Stars. I hate paying twice for one book.
What non-fiction book could you just not put down? Was it a biography? Some obscure textbook? A collection of papers or speeches? Share your suggestions below!
For the digital readers, on which platform do you read and why?...
I would like to learn the history of:...

I always say to myself that it is not worth to force books through. I do like 1/5th then I drop it if it did not catch me. Now I’m reading Pandora’s star which is a great scifi book and sandwitched inbetween the great scfi chapters there is this uninteresting detective storyline with zero scifi, people talking to eachother...
