Not 100% sure, but I think it might be an Evening Grosbeak. Photo taken in Oregon.
I spent a few hours shooting four Osprey over one of our local harbors. It’s such a sight to see them pull fish right out of the water!
I’m always stunned with how thoroughly these lil guys soak and splash in the top of my fountain. I guess dealing with nectar all day is probably a sticky business that warrants having a wash.
I caught one of the three baby scrub jays from my backyard staring curiously at a female northern flicker (red-shafted.) It hopped closer and closer until it was just six or eight inches from the flicker, at which point she flew off and scared the fledgeling away....
Little guy ditched his woman to follow me around for about 10 minutes.
I’ve been so bummed out because I haven’t been seeing the usual number of Osprey as I did last year....

I know this isn’t strictly about birding but who doesn’t like Eastern Bluebirds?...
Also bonus dragonfly in the picture!
This handsome fella was pointed out to me by another birder. I was hoping to see a bird of prey this year and I did which is super cool.
This little guy was rescued, rehabilitated, and released in Nov 2016....
