“Won’t you come in for cider and pie?” The offer is endearing but something about this homestead is unnerving.
“The day grows long as you continue your journey through the rocky hills. Is it your imagination or is there movement in the shadows?”
“Along your path find a dried frozen pond, with the remains of a fishing hut nearby. Do you investigate or continue on your way?”
A tree fell long ago partially blocking your path along the river. Is it natural, or are brigands nearby? Keep your eyes pealed.
“Hold your weapons on guard as you enter the frozen mountain steps. The many cliffs are rife with hiding places for bandits and monsters.”
“Climbing the steep mountain steppes, the feels thin in your lungs. Find your way through the tall rocks to the other side.”
“You hear the rustling of leaves as the trees change color. Ahead, one of branch of the road is washed out. Has it been used recently?”
“Your party comes across a small camp near the small ponds here. They must be transitory or else this place would be an oasis.”
“Long ago, this place was a position of power for local rulers. Now it is overgrown but slow to crumble. Who defends the treasures that were once held within?”
“The path loops around massive mushroom growths. Strange creatures may lurk nearby, but this clearing is peaceful enough for now.”
“A quiet night for a stroll in the forest. The shadows hide the unknown, but the path and rickety bridge are lit well enough.”
The Dwarven city of Tiefenwacht is connected to an extensive network of mines. After the fall of Tiefenwacht, these mines have been all but forgotten and some new inhabitants have made their home there…...
“During your long march through the forest, the path parallels a creep for some miles. The rustling of the fall trees and babbling of brook mask other sounds in the forest.”
“The frozen forest is eerily quiet. Any sound carried for miles in the still air. You worry who will hear the sounds of your own steps.”
“These boulders seem like a pleasant enough place to rest for a moment and gather your bearings. The fragrant smell of the blossoming trees bring a smile to your face.”
“The trail ahead passes through a gentle creek. It is shallow and you can easily step over it. The sound of its babbling is a pleasant distraction from your quest at hand.”
“Towers of stone loom over you, providing cover but also vantage points for an ambush. Keep your wits about you.”
“You come across a dried up riverbed. This area was likely beautiful once, but life is finding it hard to survive in the arid terrain. It’s been to keep moving onward.”
“This meadow brook is an inviting place to stop and make camp for the night. The water is clear and crisp, a good place to refresh before continuing your trek.”
“Scramble over roots and vines in this maze-like swamp. The rocky floor is slippery with moss. Beware.”
“In the winter months, the mountain pass route is often obscured with snow. A good sense of direction is important to stay on track.”
