PsychTink,

"constant fighting with our own sense of identity causes further psychological distress...

"Instead of asking “what’s wrong w/ me?” We need to shift discourse over to “what happened to me?”. It’s vital that psychological distress be placed in the context of one’s environment&
experiences of the complex power dynamics within them."

I really see the difference between the two with the opportunity for healing that they allow. With "What's wrong with me," it feels very hard, cold, and inviting of negativity. (Although I'm sure it can be motivating for a few, but with it, there's likely an emotional timebomb). With "What happened to me" there is much more room for compassion and self-love. And that feels a lot more healing to me.

Yes. Much more space for compassion, curiosity without judgment and room for growing toward acceptance and healing.. It's a lovely article.

@nimbus5000 @audhd @actuallyautistic @autisticadvocacy @thepoliticalcat I just feel that "what's wrong with me?" Shuts down the potential for meaningful change. It feels like defeat to me.
