JossyBop, in please download our app to see all allergens

Surely they can’t legally hide allergens?

shanghaibebop,

It’s not the manufacturer, it’s a 3rd party information aggregation site.

Omgarm,

This makes it better, still shit, but at least kinda acceptable. Just remove partially viewing the ingredients through web if this is how you handle it.

troydowling, in please download our app to see all allergens

No need. I already know I’m allergic to bullshit.

What website is this? I’d love to figure out how it can tell you’re using the app or not. On a lot of them it’s just a special user agent and no api or anything.

sigmaklimgrindset,

I use incidecoder, haven’t really had any issues with their mobile site. Is there a difference between them and the site you linked?

Decimit, in please download our app to see all allergens

I will please not use their product. Works out better for me.

Why would you install a program like that? The name alone sounds like malware. Anyways windows has a default firewall that works good and does the job, and your router is a hardware firewall that blocks all unsolicited packets too your local network.

Write a suicide note blaming them.

That’s one way to get at least 30 characters worth of expletives.

PhobosAnomaly,

An ‘f’, 27 'u’s, a ‘c’ and a ‘k’.

Other arrangements are available.

Wreckronomicon,

A ‘C’, 26 'U’s , an ‘N’, a ‘T’ and an ‘S’ would have been my go to but I like yours too

vinceman,

No it’s 7 f’s 12 u’s.

Rolive,

Like the old school rage comic?

vinceman,

I’m glad someone got it.

I'd absolutely recommend watching Alec's video, but that's not a half-bad summary of the main point.

Think about it hard enough and it does make sense that for something as cheap and easy to produce as a light bulb, it stands that the consumer and manufacturers alike stand to benefit from a shorter, but more energy/cost efficient implementation, than a longer-lived, but significantly less efficient/more costly version in general use.

Edit - Though it should be pointed out that this is a rare instance of corporate interests lining up with the best interests of the majority of consumers, not something that happens very often, so you could see why people (even myself) would be drawn to believing a more nefarious reason for the 1000 hour lifespan if you didn't know the technical details.

buffalobuffalo, in Why the 1000-hour light bulb Phoebus Cartel story IS NOT an example of planned obsolescence.

NEEDED.

Alec is making a point specifically about the 1000 hour maximum which was for INCANDESCENT lightbulbs. You know, the ones that aren’t used anymore.

However, modern LED lightbulbs are typically over-driven and under-cooled. This drastically shortens their lifespan and worsens efficiency. But this might just be because it’s harder to sell a $20 light that lasts for 20 years than it is to sell a $5 light that lasts for 5-10.

SirShanova,

Know of any A19 LED bulbs that last for an obscene amount of time?

TestZero,

TBF, I don’t think anyone expects a TLDR to contain the same nuance or detail as a 30 minute video.

I literally just watched this! Very good video, as is the rest of his content

This is like everywhere. Can't call them or email them. If your lucky you can fax. Nothing convenient to the normal person.

@dan1101 May I ask what this was in reference too? Customer Financial Services sounds like an utter shitshow.

They wanted me to know I owe them $74.10. I received that letter instead a final bill confirming I canceled my account on June 13. I was waiting until I got my final bill to just pay them one final time and be done with them.

Long answer, the reason I only want to pay one final time is because it’s an old MCI long distance account, Verizon bought them about 5 years ago and it was a shitshow and hasn’t changed one bit. They even still have the same recording from 5 years ago saying they were bought by Verizon. I can’t pay my bill or manage my account online, my particular account doesn’t work with that for some arcane reason and they aren’t doing new accounts. Talking to rep usually takes 15-30 minutes on hold, if their phone system doesn’t hang up on me. I was able to auto-pay by credit card for years but then I got a new card and their system to accept a new credit card was broken for weeks and every time I called I had to wait on hold for 15-30 minutes only to be told it’s still broken. They let you pay by card over the phone but then charge you a $5 fee to do that. Still better than writing a check, I hate checks. I tried my bank’s billpay but MCI/Verizon didn’t process the payments and sent me late notices, so I gave up on that after 2-3 months. So yeah they are a ridiculous company.

Bozicus,

Yeesh, this just gets worse and worse. :-(. I have zero respect for a company that can’t even make it easy for you to pay them. It doesn’t even benefit them to make it hard to pay. It’s just a failure.
