Someone who REGULARLY attends my free support group for #ActuallyAutistic adults cancelled their attendance citing that “I don’t take advice or consul from Jews who murder children, you’re probably not even autistic anyway”.
@theautisticcoach@actuallyautistic Sadly, being autistic doesn’t make someone immune from being an arsehole. No-one should be confronted with that sort of thing.
@theautisticcoach@actuallyautistic Wow is that disturbing! Sorry you received this message. If this person you're referring to is actually on the spectrum, then their behavior is most ironic coming from someone who is ostensibly marginalized.
I would think someone on the spectrum wouldn't have that kind of hate in their heart but I've been wrong before and I'll most likely be wrong again.
@cynaq@theautisticcoach@actuallyautistic One would think though that being a member of a marginalized community themselves, they would have empathy. But you're right CynAq, having bigoted ideas and being autistic are not mutually exclusive. 🙃
@cynaq@theautisticcoach@actuallyautistic Case in point: "Asperger Supremacism". Which often comes with a hefty dose of bigotry not just against other #ActuallyAutistic people but against most people overall.
