Ways to respond when someone tells you that they are Autistic Thread:

  • “Thank you for letting me know about your diagnosis”

  • “Are there things i can do to accommodate your diagnosis when we spend time together?”

  • “I would like to learn more about being Autistic from you!”

Feel free to share yours below, they could well hope others.

@AutisticAdam @actuallyautistic "Honestly, I don't know much about autism. Is there anything specific you'd like me to know? Should I shift my expectations at all?"

@AutisticAdam @actuallyautistic I wouldn't mention the word "diagnosis".

Everything else you said, I agree with.

@AutisticAdam
I like it. Maybe just exclude "your diagnosis" from these, to avoid stressing self dx folks and medicalizing? My thought
