@autism101 @actuallyautistic Story of my life. I've gotten a lot of flak for being blunt (aka "rude). It's caused a lot of pain when I was younger (I've told parents more than once if their kids were being brats, exactly like that and was treated like garbage). Nowadays, I don't care if people like it or not, I'm going to say what I think. #actuallyautistic

Talking of The Emperor's New Clothes - I was so completely and thoroughly confused by that story for the longest time. I had no clue why ANYONE would pretend to see the clothes.

So my parents told me that the Emperor would execute anyone who didn't agree with him because he was such a monstrous tyrant - and that did kind of make sense (although, again ... why was he like that?).

But then I didn't understand why my illustrated book didn't allude to any of this. 🙄😕🤯

that’s funny - I read that picture just the other way round at first! Here’s the proud emperor, all smiling and trying to convince me of his almighty splendour, and I’m completely not buying into it and unable to hide how very skeptical I am 😂

well, I can emphasize with your reading of it is that the different of hyperempathy and AFAB socialization, or not a hyperempath and having more typical male autistic expression? I wonder. That pressure if you just can't in any way reconcile your clear perception with what's expected of you...

"Sorry, I know you're busy, but if it's not too much trouble, can I maybe ask you a question, no worries if not!"

And yes I get in trouble for this on my annual performance reviews.

@autism101 @actuallyautistic This has caused my wife a great deal of distress, sometimes by proxy. Sometimes though, like with a salesperson, she will relish in the abuse.
