Anyone have a list of universities that now ask in faculty hires some version of:
"Have you ever been found responsible for sexual misconduct by a uni or professional association; are you currently under investigation; or have you left a job while under investigation?"
...or any articles about this practice?
I'm asking bc my department is hiring and our university won't let us ask this, and we'd like context as we argue with them about it
@wrigleyfield@academicchatter You might be interested in the Societies Consortium Ethical Transparency Tool: https://societiesconsortium.com/ett/ : it's a way of passing findings between entities. It's still in pilot mode, but has been through review by lawyers.
@wrigleyfield@academicchatter Olin School of Engineering in Needham MA is very interesting along these lines. Their hiring process includes student interview panel and is very progressive. You may want to reach out to them. Good luck
@wrigleyfield@academicchatter our uni requires a police check to complete the hiring process, it's not nothing, but it wouldn't catch someone who wasn't actually convicted of assault.
Elizabeth, is this during the interview process or during the application process? I believe that MN has a "ban the box" law, but that doesn't mean you can't ask the question during the interview itself... But it could be a CYA situation.
