It's easy to id faculty burnout - if you identify as faculty - you're probably burnt out. And I tend to be an optimist! Culture is representative of the collective #mentalhealth of the organization. Smart orgs use PD resources for Personal development - ie - addressing compassion fatigue or Secondary traumatic stress.

@ienvision @beatnikprof @academicchatter At a meeting with our provost today one faculty said in exasperation "we're all just exhausted" from constant change and loss of support staff. She expressed no concern.

@ienvision @JoanneKlein @rspfau @beatnikprof @academicchatter @StillIRise1963 I felt the same way when "grit" was making the rounds a few years ago - especially because it was usually applied to low income elementary school children.
"Grit" your way out of poverty kids!
"Resilience" to bear the exploitation better

Yes!! Grit drove me crazy! That idea came from folks who, as adults, didn't have half the "grit" that many underrepresented first graders have!
