What do we mean by Community Engaged Learning (CEL) at Utrecht University? How do we define CEL? Yesterday the CEL team held a retreat in our always-stunning buildings in the centre of Utrecht- photo is of the stained glass ceiling in the library. Highly inspirational once again to hear examples of CEL from across the UU, and discuss viewpoints for practical implementation.
Are courses with "Community Engaged Learning-like components" a good place to start, or do they water down educational outcomes too much? How to ensure that CEL efforts by educators are recognized and rewarded, and educators using CEL supported?
So many questions, such a bouquet of answers. How does your institute do this?
@renordquist@academicchatter We call it Community Service Learning at VU. You can google it. It is a programme for volunteers, but we have enough participants each year. It is always multidisciplinary.
