Just be aware that while they’re conservative friendly, they’re more far right than most people I know that call themselves true conservatives fall.
But, also, dude, you can just ask for a recommendation without all the extras. Nobody cares about the mod drama, nobody cares about the rest. Just ask for a community/instance without the editorials, and you’re more likely to get legitimate attempts to guide you where you want to go.
You aren’t going to find individual communities/magazines dedicated to conservative views on most of lemmy, and not at all on kbin. The closest you’ll get is the handful of firearm related communities spread across things, and you’ll still not get much leeway if you go off topic from firearms rights. So you’re going to have to use an instance that’s dedicated to politics, and you conservative politics in particular. That’s exploding-heads.
Although I'm not looking for such communities/magazines, what I would do is to increase the search scope to look for federated instances too, as each social media have their own vices and tendencies which may hinder variety growth, and federation allows for you to circumvent that while staying on your main.
There's @ModHelp. I don't know if it's for recruiting moderators per se, but advice requests would definitely be appropriate. It hasn't been posted to in a few weeks, but it did have activity and has 103 subscribers, so probably worth a try.
Make an alt account. Log into the site with the alt, come to this community and post "is there a place where someone is posting filtered pictures of their dog which emphasize the length of the dog's nose? also looking for pics of said dog dressed up like a sheep. ty!!".
Now, log in with your own account and stumble upon the post.
I'd say this is exactly what we need actually. The search function is a bit lackluster but this is an excellent idea as a stop gap while more important features are at the front of the queue.
Lists would be great but (forgive if this is a stupid question, I'm one of the émigrés who literally just got here and don't know what I'm doing) how do you subscribe to other instances/communities/whatever if you don't find them via the platform you signed up on? I found a bunch of other places I'd like in my feed but I can't figure out how to subscribe to them without being logged in on each respective platform, which defeats the point.
Not a stupid question at all - the way you do it isn’t intuitive, and I hope gets made easier with further software developments. In the search bar near your username at the upper right enter, communityname@instancename, for ex. [email protected], and if it’s working right the version of the community that’s synced to kbin will show up. Catch is that right now it randomly seems to glitch, and fail or return nothing, so if doesn’t work at first you’ll just have to try again later. I’m sure the people running the site are aware of the issue and trying to get it sorted out, for now it’s one of the things to put up with a platform that basically started last month.
