"I have a secret foolproof way to make endless money, but somehow I need you to pay me to learn my secret and become my competitor, thereby endangering my own secret business of foolproof endless money"
so it should be obviously a scam to anyone who thinks about it for a few minutes.

I haven't mention it to a lot of people around me. I said it toy parents and my sister. Part of my family learned about it when I went in the local news/at the radio.
I don't disclose it in general. It's not by fear of the reaction. I don't care about what they think.
It's private and not public like my gender, my sexuality, etc. I don't mask even in public. I stopped for my mental health and to be myself. But, I will not write "I'm an autist" on my head.

I have to tell them before they say something ignorant or offensive. It has many upsides too in that it's led to many people realising they or someone they know is autistic. Which brings me great joy & them a lot of answers.

I do so with abandon because it's now my field of work but I have a friend who never tells anyone she's autistic & after years of people patronising me, denying me work opportunities, suggesting I'm violent or a maths whiz or "you don't look autistic" I very much understand why.
Disclosure is a personal choice, you don't owe it to anyone & if you do expect people to either not care, not understand or even worse think they understand.
I mostly throw the doors wide open. I get a lot of relief out of living authentically. But there are still people I won't tell, because it isn't safe. And which people are which can be very surprising and difficult to learn.
