Just finished Olga #Tokarczuk's 'Empusion', her first #novel since winning the Nobel prize.
A magical, intoxicating, even addictive read, with such literary beauty as I've rarely found in a novel, much less a novel that cheekily mixes quirky intellectual caricatures with good old folk #horror
Saying anything more might spoil the experience: best to discover its joys without knowing too much in advance!
I have been trying to find something to read, but nothing is standing out to me. I guess I am in a slump of some sort. Any recommendations are welcome. I read just about anything, but very little fantasy. I enjoy nonfiction especially nature or social justice focused. I love middle grade books and some YA. So throw anything at me and maybe I will find something to get me out of this slump.
This one felt very timely - Surviving financially as an artist / surviving as the world slips into war. How the rise of fascism affected different people differently. People not recognising their own privilege. All put across in a story that feels very light - Really clever! @bookstodon
@bookstodon This one got wet but was worth drying out - Stylised and fun but a surprisingly affecting description of different loves and people who don’t fit in - Just a lovely book
