What's the deal with "keen sense of justice"? I am not sure what it's called in English, but I keep reading that it's an autism thing and I definitely have been accused of an "exaggerated" sense of justice or having too much of it. Why do we have that?

Yes, but why? How does this difference in sense of justice happen? I haven't seen any theories anywhere. (Or if I have, I've forgotten.)

@shiri I'm afraid you've lost me there in the first sentence. Why do we have a values-based identity vs group based identity? It sounds like everyone already knows, so maybe there's a link somewhere to get me up to speed?

@punishmenthurts @actuallyautistic No, it really doesn't matter if the question is posed as why do we or why do they. What I want to know is how the difference happens.

While I remember how horrible it was for me as a kid that everyone around me told me the rules were meant to be broken and I'd just have to keep quiet about it, I also wonder how much of my question got lost in translation. The German term I keep reading is "Gerechtigkeitssinn". This doesn't necessarily mean adhering to current laws, it can also mean to find current laws and rules to be unjust.

@shiri Thank you for the explanation and the link. I had never heard of it. It's a bit of a shock, because if this is true it would not only explain why I've never been able to "find my people", but also will mean that I never will.

@actuallyautistic I am trying to write a message to someone asking them to not be disappointed if I turn out to not be able to learn to understand all metaphors and visual imagery. I actually don't know if that is or could be a problem for me. I tried a quick search but the subject looks so complicated. How can I phrase a quick disclaimer that my brain might be wired differently and that it might require too much energy and masking to learn that communication style?

I have been trying to find something to read, but nothing is standing out to me. I guess I am in a slump of some sort. Any recommendations are welcome. I read just about anything, but very little fantasy. I enjoy nonfiction especially nature or social justice focused. I love middle grade books and some YA. So throw anything at me and maybe I will find something to get me out of this slump.

@CindySue @bookstodon My two favourite books at the moment are fantasy (kind of between middle grade and YA) But I can look through my nonfiction books, if fantasy isn't for you (it wasn't for me either, I just read those two because they were very queer and wholesome.) I'm in a reading slump, too, the only thing that gets me reading is when the looming deadline of the library approaches :D

PS: I'm looking through your storygraph link, do you find that storygraph helps you to stay motivated to read? I recently joined goodreads, which is, of course, not ideal, but at least I have four friends there that keep me on my toes.

@CindySue @bookstodon Oh, that's a lot of books per year, if you want to point me to your goodreads profile, I can double check there aswell, I'll probably find out that you've already read everything that I would have suggested. 😅
