Copying website for offline

This is probably not the right place, but I figured I’d give it a try. I’ve been trying to copy this website so I could have offline access when tooling around the Channel Islands. I could (and probably will), just copy/paste whatever info I need for my little trips, but the fact that I can’t copy it ass over is annoying...

sin_free_for_00_days,

This is good. I used to think that, here in the US, the 1st amendment was a wonderful thing. Watching the anti-science and magat growth based on straight up lies has made me question that belief. As hawkwind says, it's important to know who is deciding if something is fake, but so often if it gets to that point it's like we're missing out on fucking common fucking sense. If someone can't tell that an election wasn't stolen, or that a person isn't a criminal when they admit to crimes, well...fuck 'em.

Thanks, added it to my player.

Wait until the wind is blowing from the west, drop a nuke, viola! No fall out on NATO, no justification for an Article V response.

Why is Trilium so unknown? (github.com)

I mean Trilium is fantastic app, lots of potential but the developer is struggling on his own, maybe it's because it's younger than logseq or maybe because is open source compared to obsidian. I think it's the best note-taking/knowledge-base/second-brain i know it virtually could link everything you posses toghter to create a...

That was my first thought as well. IM client that I hadn't heard the name of in many years.

That whole bit is so stupid, but it just gets more and more funny.

Musk fans, like most conservatives, seem unfailing adept at Doublethink

I remember years ago a bunch of people were bitching about the cost when some family that got rescued in the middle of the ocean. The coast guard response to the money complaints was,"Look, if we weren't rescuing them, we would be running drills to prepare to rescue them at the same cost."

Dr. Rockzo, on the other hand, terrifies me.

"I’m beginning to understand that we’re not on the right side" - Russian soldiers who surrendered say morale on the Russian side is very low (web.archive.org)

One captured Russian soldier says he worries about what will happen if he is returned to Russia in a prisoner swap. “If I have the opportunity, I’ll refuse to be exchanged." Another fighter reported that a doctor declared him unfit for combat after he was wounded in March, but his commander ordered him back to the front.

I can remember a couple decades ago I was talking to my grandmother and she said that for the most part people trusted the gov't. Until my dad's friends started coming back from Vietnam and spitting truth. I hope enough Russians go back and spread the word, but I worry that not enough will be alive to even go back.

‘A sense of betrayal’: liberal dismay as Muslim-led US city bans Pride flags (web.archive.org)

In 2015, many liberal residents in Hamtramck, Michigan, celebrated as their city became the first in the United States to elect a Muslim-majority city council. They viewed the power shift and diversity as a meaningful rebuke of the Islamophobic rhetoric of then Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s campaign. This...

Never trust someone religious. By definition they are ruled by fairy tales, and that's not a rational approach to living.

sin_free_for_00_days,

Words should matter though. The guy you responded too is correct. There is a very big difference in responses to pandemics vs drought. Both can cause upheaval, but that’s about where the similarities end.

sin_free_for_00_days,

It’s freaking hilarious how untrustworthy China is, yet the US still trips over themselves to buy Chinese crap. The capitalist race to the bottom in full effect, from the economy to the gov’t.

sin_free_for_00_days,

More people voted for trump after his disastrous 4 years in office than did when he first got elected. I don’t think voting is the answer because we are stupid. Educating these idiots would go a long way, but they don’t believe in education. Being controlled by their extended, daily, two minute hate is all they seem to know or want.

I taught at a couple school where the majority of the students got their only 2 meals a day when at school. And these fuck heads think that’s too much. It makes me sick.

sin_free_for_00_days,

I’ve been an avid reader for my life. Hell, way back decades ago, when I went to University, I majored in English Literature. For whatever reason, I’ve been scared of reading his books. I’ve just read/heard too many “It was great, I’ll never read it again” type reviews. Made me think that reading one (or more) of his works would be similar to watching Graveyard of the Fireflies.

Still no issues on Debian.

sin_free_for_00_days,

Oh, I’ve followed this stuff for years and years. I’ve been using Linux pretty much exclusively for a quarter of a century. People love to harp on the security issues, but from what I’ve seen that’s pretty much theoretical. The only real compelling argument is that developers are leaning toward Wayland, so that’s the way it will go. I’m sure some day I’ll go to update and it’ll be time to make that change.

I’m not a developer. I wasn’t super happy with the change to systemd, but it’s not like I was the one that had to deal with the init v issues, so when it changed, I went along. I’m sure the same will happen with Wayland. The last time I tried it, a lot of my decades of cruft didn’t work, shortcuts and workflow issues. Sure, I should probably clean up all that crap anyway, but like I said, it’ll happen when it happens. Until then, I’m completely happy with X11.

What do you think about Apple and its ecosystem? (And a little conversation I had with a colleague)

I want to talk about this because of a conversation I had with a colleague on a lunch break a few days ago. I am a doctor, and I was talking to him about how angry I was (and still am) about the fact that the COVID vaccines, when they were first invented, were not made public, but instead were patented and sold. This basic fact...

I don’t even understand why it’s become taboo. Sure, I’ll go along with current bullshit group think, just to lubricate the means of communication, but what the fuck?

sin_free_for_00_days,

I can’t stand laptops, only have a desktop. Good luck, my thoughts are with you!

sin_free_for_00_days,

I’d like to see new posts to my subscribed communities, without having to go to each one to check. Maybe it’s there and I just haven’t found it. I can’t stand anything on my phone, so this is only referring to the website.

sin_free_for_00_days,

What would you use for a synonym for based? I keep seeing that used. I always thought it was just some alt-right meme bullshit, but I’m learning I was wrong. I still don’t get the use. My mind always thinks “based on what?”
