Same! I lurked a lot on Reddit because even trivial comments felt like they’d get picked at (or more often just not result in additional conversation). Here I feel much more comfortable typing and not second guessing. Feels good.
Imagine a stick man standing on top of a building and jumping off. In your mind's eye, what colour was he drawn in and what colour was the background colour?...
@MrMusAddict I get that. Aside from replies, boosts and upvotes are the only other way to tell someone walked by and thought “hey I like or dislike that”.

Yeah I heard alot of people in the Fediverse saying that Meta Threads should be immediately defederated. But I believe that this is a great chance for the Fediverse to grow as a whole. But I think we should only defederate from them when they actually do something that's against the Fediverse (like doing the "Embrace / Extend /...
Ok interesting. I need to read up more on it, I wonder what benefit Meta gets from building on or integrating with AP. Like a short term image / branding thing, or a longer play because there is some fear of what the fediverse could turn into without them.
I had a couple classmates that pretended to be vampires back in elementary and middle school. They’d pretend their Koolaid was blood, complain about the sunlight, and bite their friends a lot. Not enough to draw blood, though. I haven’t kept up with most of them, but one guy is a teacher now. He seems pretty normal.
I really, REALLY wanted to be a ninja turtle when I was like 7 or 8. I didn’t let anyone in on that, but I thought if I wanted it enough I might change into one overnight.
@minnieo joining the Left Twix crowd, but they are both really great! I LOVE the gradient outline in these versions compared to the pure black outline in prior.
Whether you started with a 2600 and a joystick in your hand, an N64 with a blistered palm or building your first PC in your teens, what is that one video game you've played at some point that to this day sits at the top of your list.
@GeekFTW@Ragnell I wish I had the link handy… this is referencing the person who asked ChatGPT to write an article about why Tetris is racist right? And the article is unsurprisingly terrible. I think all in response to Kotaku moving toward AI journalism.
Some users wonder if the dev will be charged for having it still up, others argue Reddit can't charge him without having signed a contract. Everyone is confused as to why the API change hasn't made it inoperable....
@Jcb2016 Good news… at least two kbin apps are in the works. Follow @dansup for their Kbam app, and @hariette for their Artemis app. Artemis sounds like it’ll be heavily Apollo inspired, whereas Kbam is doing something a bit different.
I’ve been on Beehaw and Lemmy.world for the past two weeks now and while people seem to be posting content that isn’t about Reddit or Twitter or how great federated platforms are, such content does not receive as many comments/discussion as topics about the Reddit API controversy, or the current Twitter controversy, etc....
Without comments, I feel far less inclined to leave a comment unless there’s a discussion already going on.
I am used to being much more of a lurker, but I find myself jumping in on new posts if I have any thoughts to offer. I figure we can all pitch in a bit to try to stoke conversation.
The car will be a Low Speed Vehicle, meaning it won’t go faster than about 25 miles per hour on a paved surface. If a driver needs a faster route, they will be able to use the vehicle's flight capabilities, according to Alef.
@tryplot oh for real? I had no idea. My brain said “looks like Reddit upvotes, must work the same way”. The up/downvote buttons are placed prominently in a way that suggests they are impactful, whereas boost is just kinda tertiary / seems less important.
@Martineski boost for wefwef, it’s filling the Apollo-sized hole in my heart. For Kbin, following the work of @dansup with great interest… Pixelfed is such a smooth app, I have tempered expectations but high hopes for his Kbam app.
Reddit hated emojis, how does Kbin feel? (kbin.social)
Seemed like emojis in posts / comments would get downvoted to oblivion on Reddit. I don’t see the same thing on Kbin (or other instances / services).
