nonearther,

It’s weird that Thunder, most polished Lemmy app, is not even on the list

nonearther,

So if mods make the subreddits SFW, will that work on third party apps?

Because I think if government regulations was in play, then this move will cause Reddit a lot of headache.

nonearther,

The irony is that we left Reddit for how they killed quality apps, and on Lemmy we’re no way close a single properly functioning one still, despite some incredibly great efforts by devs.

nonearther,

LinkedinLunatics, IAmTheMainCharacter for time wasting

Jobs, UKJobs for job search

Recrutinghell to know I’m not the only one in the hellhole

Soccer (activities are non existent here), BoxOffice, Entertainment, etc. for fun

nonearther,

I don’t know about the contents, but actual Reddit will be blocky, filled with more ads than feed, and mostly be unmoderated soon

nonearther,

It’s enough for me, because 0 Tweet is enough for me.

nonearther,

I really don’t understand this mod behaviour.

You’re doing work for free, and promise to do it for free despite Reddit making it much harder.

If any mod complains, you plan to replace them instead of bringing the challenge to Reddit.

No wonder Reddit doesn’t care about protests. They not only get free workers, but by looks of it, ones who have Stockholm syndrome

nonearther,

You actually made my point with this.

Mods are doing all those work, drive engagement to Reddit, ut earn nothing.

If mods take out AMA website by some other name and make a business out of it, it’s only great. They will make profit and Reddit will not get free labour.

And this is why their ordeal of still moderating when Reddit making things harder is exactly like Stockholm syndrome

nonearther,

Exactly that. Mods should stop moderation on Reddit unless they get the right tools.

Even if they are replaced, new mods will not have same expertise. And also, Reddit will not forever get free work.

nonearther,

Reddit would crumble badly very soon is those unpaid mods just immediately give up. The chaos will definitely doom Reddit and fast.

But it’s clear that mods there would rather suffer than give up their made up power.

nonearther,

I don’t know if it’s just ethical or their unwillingness to improve but they have left a lot of issues open for several years.

Issues like -

  • Auto dark mode for web pages - they removed it when Chrome for Android dropped it, but never picked it back up. All other browsers have it now
  • Geolocation on Mac. Their argument is weird for this and the issue is still there for over 5 years
  • A lot of changes nobody asked, something like address bar auto complete, which they forcefully changed to top sites without even giving options
  • Slowdown because of bloat - while a lot cliam that it isn’t the case, Vivaldi has brought my M1 Mac to its knees, even with brand new instace. Again only one to do so
