humanfactor, to dach in Was denken sie über Mawistaversicherung?

I know someone who had a student insurance with Mawista. They paid as stated in the contract. They offer a lot of different insurances so ymmv but for the 50€ a month student insurance they delivered as expected. It helped tremendously to tell the doctors what kind of insurance was used so they could consider it when writing the bill. Payment was usually within two to three weeks. So if you Hand in the bill to the insurance quickly you will usually get the money quick enough to pay the bills without using much of your own money. As with any private insurance you should have some spare money to pay bills that they have not covered yet though. I can’t say anything about ambulances or hospital visits though.

humanfactor, to asklemmy in What does the fear of being judged by others hold you back from doing that you would otherwise do?

To all of you guys who enjoy playing pretend, I want to suggest to try playing improv theater. There are often beginner courses and its a kind of slightly guided cooperative make believe. My personal recommendation: try long form Impro and not just short form (which I learned to be the goofier of the two). For me it was very freeing to find an outlet for this stuff where it’s suddenly even cool.

humanfactor, to youshouldknow in YSK that your power in a negotiation falls down quickly the more dependent you are on the result of the negotiation

This is very important advice - thank you!

In terms of labor market: Don’t just apply for one job. Always try to have options. I know that this is a pretty unrealistic setting for many people - and I’m sorry about that. But if you can - have a plan B. Even if you apply for a job A, which you really think you want, having an offer for a somewhat shitty job B on the table already gives you some leverage. You don’t fight for your survival anymore. You may not get Job A after all if you don’t accept the bad conditions they may offer, but you still have job B to keep you afloat. You may still get job A though - with better conditions and salary than you would have dared to bargain for if you didn’t have an alternative. The more alternatives the better.

Again, I know this is not always possible. If it is though: make use of it.

It’s a little bit like dating. Don’t take the first offer just because they want you. Make sure you actually want them, you and they know and respect your value, and they don’t screw you over.

humanfactor, to asklemmy in Self-care for Men?

It was a long journey that is probably not so interesting. If you want a somewhat different approach than many popular mediation apps (which I’m sure all have their audience and place) try the „waking up“ app by Sam Harris. I find it to be much more down to earth and focused on introspection and (meta) perception. The difference becomes more obvious in the introduction series after a few days and maybe not right in the beginning. If you really can’t afford the price, make sure to check out their „no questions asked“ stipend options that let you select a lower price to pay (or nothing).

As boring as this answer may be, but the one thing that was most helpful for me, is meditation. I’m an atheist and I want to run away when I hear ambient yoga music and „soothing voices“ in guided meditation, so it took a while for me to find a good entry point that was suitable for me, but it improved my daily live significantly. I don’t do it every day (because I’m still human and I can’t call it a habit yet) but I know it would make my life better if I did.

Sidenote: I also tried to create a going to bed ritual with fancy face gels and face wash, but all it spawned was a lot of pimpels and a parfume smelling pillow. So I ditched that and have again no pimpels at all, now that I let my face do it’s thing and just wash it with water and some soap every now and then.

I’d be interested in other „going to bed rituals“ that you guys may have, as I like the idea to have this kind of ritual in general.
