Yes I think we should. That is derivative work. The AI projects are not a tool, they are automated derivation made on models based on stolen art.
Tell me you don’t know how AI works without telling me.
The actualy program that creates AI art (in a stable diffusion model) has literally no memory of any sort from the trained data. So to call it derivative is just factually incorrect.
Also photoshop generative fill makes full images too.
Lmao, art is becoming more accessible than ever an now money hungry people are scared that anyone can make nice looking art now and so don’t have leverage to charge people for it.
AI art is objectively a good thing for society and art as a whole. People complaining about it are just bitter and too stubborn to adapt to the new technology and will become as obscure and forgotten as every other craft made redundant by technology.
And we based digital brush patterns ans effects in computer art programs on real ones made by skilled artisans. Are you going to complain that digital artists are bad because they’re putting brush makers out of business?
Less we bankrupted ourselves and more the Americans bankrupted us. America put a lot of effort in the early 20th century to undermining the influence of the BE and was far more concerned with building up west Germany as a barrier to the Soviets than they did with building back up allies like the UK and France.
I work for a label and need to press that no artist would get actually big without their label. Nit because the artist isn’t good, but because if you can’t get deals with radio stations, deals with streaming services to get on curated playlists, interviews with Graham Norton/other shows, nomination/performances at award shows, promotions on tick tok, commercial/movie soundtrack deals, world tours, tradional advertising. Etc etc. Then you’re never going to be making good money in the industry.
And music is infamously not very lucrative in terms of entertainment. Film, TV and video games companies are actually ordered of magnitude more profitable.
