flashgnash, to linux_gaming in Steam Link is seriously cool!

Steam controller is great for that, I love it but the build quality doesn’t feel good, it’s quite light and plastic-ey

If you like the track pads on the deck the ones on the sc are very similar you’ll probably like those too. The joystick on the sc isn’t the best though and it doesn’t have a right stick so kinda sucks for games designed for twin stick

flashgnash, to technology in So tired of Adobe. They're part of the problem.

You don’t need windows for edge/chrome though, what’s stopping you just using edge or chrome on Linux?

flashgnash, to linux in Is anyone using NixOS as their daily driver?

So it’s a way to ensure you always get the exact same version of dependencies?

flashgnash, to selfhosted in What are the best customizable routers nowadays?

So the pi takes over dchp and assigns itsself as a DNS server? I assume if I want to assign static IPs I have to do it through the pi from then on?

Can’t use pihole because I’m running NixOS on my pi and the only way to run it is via docker container (which melts down my system, believe it’s trying to emulate x86 for some reason)

So the only use of flakes is for packaging software? Haven’t started packaging software for NixOS yet only managing my PC

flashgnash, to selfhosted in What are the best customizable routers nowadays?

That might be the way to do it. I’m somewhat unfamiliar with networking, what does DHCP do?

flashgnash, to selfhosted in What are the best customizable routers nowadays?

I’m guessing I would need to get a modem too then, no? I’ve got the BT router that takes the DSL connection directly currently

flashgnash, to linux in Is anyone using NixOS as their daily driver?

I’ve heard of the advantages of using them but still not entirely sure what they’re actually used for? What situation would call for using a flake?

flashgnash, to linux_gaming in Steam Link is seriously cool!

I’m thinking of getting one but I don’t like the Xbox One form factor think it looks kinda ugly and probably doesn’t feel good

How’s it feel to hold compared to a steam controller/deck/ps5 controller?

flashgnash, to linux in Is anyone using NixOS as their daily driver?

Daily driving it myself but have yet to really use flakes. What’s the benefit of them?

flashgnash, to linux in GNOME’s Native Screencasting Feature is Taking Shape

It seems to support Chromecast though

Isn’t chromecast based on Miracast?

flashgnash, to linux in [Rant] I swear to fucking god. Windows is harder to use than Linux. Have any of you ever USED Windows lately? Holy fuck.

I discovered last night that I could run overwatch at smooth and solid ~144fps on max settings, I’m pretty sure I couldn’t do that on Windows, blew my mind a little

flashgnash, to linux in Most popular 'real' desktop will soon be the Linux desktop [Opinion]

Also then we don’t get to be a niche cult anymore \s

flashgnash, to linux in Most popular 'real' desktop will soon be the Linux desktop [Opinion]

I used Dex for a while as a software developer, it works surprisingly well for most office tasks and at the company I was working at at the time we did most of our work in cloud VMs anyway

With everything moving to the cloud it’s going to become more and more attractive to just have a tablet (with a keyboard case) instead of a laptop/pc and just dock it when you need peripherals I think

That said that’s good for those of us wanting to use Linux as our desktops because we’ll be on basically the same playing field as all the windows users if they go entirely cloud based. No longer any need to use onlyoffice/libreoffice (I like them but my manager seems to think they aren’t fully compatible with office files that we get from clients )

flashgnash, to linux in Why Personal Cloud Storage is so bad on Linux?

Syncthing is pretty good. I’ve got a raspberry pi running it on my local network with an old usb hard drive I had kicking around and it works great
