You don’t know your Marx? socialism-transition-communism

Marx, therefore, further refined the concept of a “transition society” and introduced the idea that the development of communist society would take place in two phases. In the first stage, “socialism” as he called it, the commune state was still necessary both to defeat all attempts at counter-revolution and to reconstruct the international economic system on an egalitarian and planned basis.

Ah, I see you think yourself an expert on Marx. When he said this was he not meaning that instead of the people being under the dictatorship of a small privileged class of capitalists (see the plutocracy of many capitalist nations) he wanted the entirety of the people, in particular the working class to have control over their own lives, labor, and common interests?

Idk, but it sounds like you think you have read more of Marx’s literature and understand Marx better?

Or perhaps you are arguing that power will always be abused by individuals and thus we shouldn’t resist it and those that currently hold it in the form of capital…

in which case…

I never expect perfection in a human society, but I know for damn certain we can do better than what we do now and the improvements we can make are towards a more equitable society best expressed by socialist and communist thinkers alike.

transition phase being authoritarian is a mistake

Your understanding of communism is fundamentally flawed… Democracy is indispensable to socialism.

The only moral revolution is one by and for the people, with the working class playing a vital role in driving societal change.

Moreover, one need not look far to find instances of so-called capitalist “Revolutions” supported by the United States, which often resulted in the rise of authoritarian dictatorships. For example, Fulgencio Batista’s regime in Cuba in 1933 and the tyrannical rule of President Rhee Syng-man in South Korea are separate cases illustrating this trend. Additionally, history records numerous coups and regime changes in Latin America, alluding to a broader pattern.

It’s crucial to acknowledge that capitalist economies, exemplified by countries like the US, have at times allied with and propped up dictatorships, fascist movements, and ultra-nationalist regimes.

When examining the actions and consequences of historical revolutions, it becomes apparent that revolutions aligned with capitalism have, both in the past and present, been more numerous and have encountered moral complexities and violence. One might argue that this predominance is partly driven by the capitalist motives associated with imperialism, which facilitated the diffusion of their economic model.

Dude, dictatorship of proletariat doesn’t mean what you think it does.

www.marxists.org/archive/lenin/works/…/x02.htm

When reading Marx please keep in mind that not only did he write in German, which has been translated… but if you have read his works he often heavily utilizes foot notes to explain what he means be certain things and at times will take an entire section building up an argument that is later summarized into a more concise statement. My first reaction to “dictatorship of proletariat” was negative, but reading more about his meaning is important.

Did Marx get some things wrong, sure however, while I will never say “everyone has to read this” I will say that “everyone who wants to oppose Marx should actually understand it to a level that probably requires reading”

Forget it, you said you are a democratic socialist right? Don’t fight loosing arguments about history with people. Shut them up with this one argument.

“I will defend every seemingly communist country and their actions, only after you defend every capitalist nation and all of their actions. Simple enough right?”

@emi@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

If they say some shit like “Well I’m not arguing for another trail of tears, I just think the economic system of capitalism is better”

Just respond with “Good, so your alignment with a type of economic system or model still leaves plenty of room for variations on policy🤔”

See when ai video generation comes to consumer tools, you will be able to actually ask for a video of almost anything… it might just suck and take hundreds of tries till you get something close to what you want… or it might take loading a separate, slightly different model.

In case you didn’t know… https://www.npr.org/sections/codeswitch/2013/12/30/242429836/why-being-gypped-hurts-the-roma-more-than-it-hurts-you

“I encounter a lot of people who tell me that they never knew the word ‘gypped’ had anything to do with gypsies, or that it’s offensive — especially when the word is heard not read,” says University of Texas at Austin professor Ian Hancock, who was born in Britain to Romani parents. “My response to them is, That’s okay. You didn’t know but now you do. So stop using it. It may mean nothing to you, but when we hear it, it still hurts.”

It’s okay, the best thing we can do is inform others so that we don’t unknowingly hurt others. Now you know. 💜

If you don’t count any system that is predicated on the degree of exploited labor (underpaid/overworked, child labor, and slavery) Then yeah, a functioning economic system hasn’t ever been seen in U.S. history… not really compatible as there will always be exploited labor under capitalism.

I am personally not in a postilion to correct people right now as I am still using my dead name with some people… in the future though I would LOVE to just say “no need to apologize, you got it right the first time.” Keeping in mind that for those that are working retail, it is probably best to politely correct whenever possible.

Now just out right aggressive shit like when I heard some guy behind my back say something along the lines of…

(was going to leave a very upsetting example here but decided to spare you the example, but let’s just say that while I am boymode-ing often it is obvious to many that I am either trans or queer based on my appearance)

…as I was still working I just turned around and while my voice and words were nothing but polite… I am sure my expression did the trick because the dude shut up fast.

(I hate my body (my height being one thing I wish I could change), but in situations like that, an upset expression from a 6’2" person is somewhat more affective)

It’s not that, it is when someone (correctively misgenders) as in they got the right gender and then when they catch a hint you might be trans or see something that points to your AGAB they switch it up and miss gender you. That is what the OP is about and I think this is what the comment was also referring to aswell.

The OP is based on the common occurrence of this for MTF individuals, especially those that have grown out our hair… while someone may gender us correctly from behind, they sometimes (correctively misgender) when you turn around. This can be done with the best intentions in mind, like they thought they misgendered a guy as a girl, so they apologize despite the fact that the apology is in fact an insult at that point.

I remember the first time someone called me miss in public I felt amazing, the second time it happened it crashed when they apologized and said sir. Instead of getting off work that day giddy because I was called miss, I spent the rest of the night disgusted trying to deduce what features made them question their first thought.

I found the issue here, you have a piece of malware on your phone called “Fox News”, don’t worry as removing it is super simple.

When your platform advertises itself as decentralized, and a simple “host bluesky instance” search results in articles telling you to join the main instance’s waiting list… that sounds too stupid for me to give them the time of day.

I am surprised anyone uses or takes them seriously.

Any “Decentralized” Solution that is not F.O.S. free and opensource was never “Decentralized” at all.

MIT≠FOS

GNU is Free and forever free software… MIT not so much.

fossbytes.com/open-sources-license-type/

Point being, any forks of GNU will have a free version available, MIT carries no such limitation… making it a corpo favorite.

You can call it open source, but Free and Open source is questionable.

Yeah, what would really help bring that down to like maybe 18-19 imo, would be free college. My thought behind that is I and many others wait till we are more financially independent from repressive parents.

Very important to note, also it is important to note that even CIS women have a wide variety in body shapes and sizes. No woman is more or less valid than another. Affirming care is about affirming your inner self for your own sake, and not anyone else.

Fuck those countries and states that require certain procedures before one can change documentation and live a normal life.

Didn’t even know this was a thing… not surprising, although I wonder how it works.
