corsicanguppy, to canada in Most Albertans don't want the province to pull out of CPP, survey finds

My bro is in a similar state, but not for conspiracy reasons.

I’m finding it challenging watching for a glimmer of reason or otherwise waiting for inevitable calamity. I figure as long as he’s cursing me out, he’s still good.

Can’t stop won’t stop.

I’ve never understood the independent pension plan

If you migrate to or from Alberta, you get nothing. The ‘others’ can suck it

And if you move to BC at 60 years of age, you still get nothing, you rest-of-Canada-lover you.

corsicanguppy, to canada in Exclusive: Docs Blocked by BC NDP Raise Questions about First Nation Statement on Fairy Creek Protests | The Walrus

Fairy Creek was the one where

  • indigenes wanted to log it for cash
  • it was old growth
  • protestors protested
  • cops arrested
  • no one’s sure why this stand of old-growth is totally loggable but that one isn’t

Right?

And the answer was “shut up”, right?

There’s still a huge difference. Maybe not.

corsicanguppy, to asklemmy in What is the weirdest food your cat wants to eat?

My cat will have the junky orange cheeses. We have to call out that the crinkly sound is the sound of human(intended) cheese and not cat(intended) cheese or she’s in the kitchen and highly interactive.

corsicanguppy, to linux_gaming in Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney was asked by Verge why there is no support for the Steam Deck for Fortnite

So supporting Linux means they need to test on at least all currently maintained versions of maybe the top 20 or so distros

It absolutely does not mean that.

Pick a steam deck, support a steam deck, 3 major releases. If the SD runs on enterprise Linux that’s a 10 year support window.

That’s a perfectly viable plan - much like “releasing on x box” - and with an understandable market clearly delineated. Everything else can be “hey try, but don’t call us” and we’d all still try.

corsicanguppy, to memes in One of my back teeth is aching at the moment

Canada just released its timetable to phase routine maintenance dental care into a consolidated health plan.

It’s starting small, but if our Republican wanna-bes don’t kill it we could have universal coverage and equal access to dental care regardless of economic station.

corsicanguppy, to canada in Canada faces declining EV interest, report shows, despite push to boost sales

probably not enough to match the demand if everybody switched to electric cars overnight.

The same way that McDonalds wouldn’t be able to cope if the Public suddenly discovered Mig Mac Sauce can prevent cancer?

It’s okay to plan capacity a little less aggressively and then come up with demand, and not coping with a bizarre surge is almost okay.

corsicanguppy, to canada in Ottawa to launch pre-approved home design catalogue, bring back post-war effort

Apparently the cure to urban sprawl is … urban sprawl. Cheaply-built little matchstick firetraps, low-density shit.

What an embarrassment for anyone backing this mess.

corsicanguppy, to movies in Dune: Part 2 | Official Trailer 3

Nah. The william Hurt miniseries. But this one’s gonna be gorgeous.

corsicanguppy, to asklemmy in What's the funniest WiFi network name you've seen?

8hz&IP

corsicanguppy, to asklemmy in What Film Are You Surprised Didn't Get A Sequel?

Agreed. Second-worst date movie ever. She was shellshocked and missed all the humour cues.

corsicanguppy, to asklemmy in What soap opera is most likely what influenced "Sunrise Bay" from Schitt's Creek?

Real soaps were on five days a week and were campy as fuck

You’re going to be shocked to learn they’re still on. Our channel 11 and 21 show the same thing in the mornings, but if she leaves the TV on when she goes to work and it’s on the wrong one, about 10 or 11am it switches to the same soaps that my mom used to watch when I was a kid.

I asked my wife and there’s still a victor, still a Penelope and like 4 Alecias, and they’re still played by the same actors! Talk about a career of they’re still on the same gig after 40 years. And one guy must be 90 now.

The stories seem less TeleNovela and more Real Housewives, though, as now I discover it’s on the wrong channel when, instead of prim and proper news anchors, there’s the sounds of screeching and cat fights in the living room and it disturbs a Teams call in my office.

I think the Brit one with the guy from Red Dwarf is still on, too.
