I think when Apple announces battery life for watches, the measurement is for the current watch on the current software. Over time, yes your battery holds less charge, but also, the software gets new features that the newer hardware handles just fine, but the older hardware starts to struggle with. Apple doesn’t provide data for newer software on older devices. There’s no spec sheet from Apple saying, “if you upgrade your series 5/6 to WatchOS 9, you should expect this new, lower battery life.”

But we all know newer, better features are going to use more compute - that’s just how technology works. So you either 1) cut off older devices from the newer features, which users get grumpy about, 2) provide the new features but don’t say anything about the impact or 3) provide new features but say how it impacts older devices and maybe provide toggles and system controls to enable/disable. I don’t think #3 is really in Apple’s DNA - that’s more of a Microsoft approach.

The implication that having a cycle count on your phone is going to drive upgrades is bizarre.

“Hey, what made you decide to get the new iPhone?”

“It has battery cycle counts!”

So does that mean we get the patch early? Or do we get the Mac version and then a new patch the next day? Or worse, is the Mac a patch behind the PC version?

I think a trap a lot of players fall into in D&D is that in-combat healing is bad. Out of combat, sure, but during combat the better play 99% of the time is to do damage to the enemies, not heal your party.

Start thinking about how you can do damage with Clerics and you’ll start to see the possibilities.

I don’t think we’ll see it for a few years, but I feel like Apple has laid out their plans for this when they announced the VisionPro. It runs iPhone and iPad apps in Stage Manager. So does the iPad Pro. And I can definitely see that it’s a possibility for the phones in the future.

Now the chips in the phones aren’t M-series, so it might be a while until we’ve got the horsepower, and I’m sure there’s some developer-changes necessary as well, but it doesn’t seem out of the question.

If you use an iPad Pro, the overcast layout is just stilly looking. I switched back to the Podcasts app. I heard he’s working on updating the UI, and I’ll try it again when it’s redone.

Be a swords bard, take sharpshooter at level 4, find two hand crossbows, and just pew-pew everything with 3 shots per turn (flourish allows to you to target the same target with your multi-attack, and you get an offhand attack for 3 attacks) that have +10 damage on each of them. And you get to enjoy all those nice bard spells and skills on top!

Alert is also a very powerful feat (more powerful than 5e because in 5e initiative rolls are a d20). Going first means that you can cast your bard spells before the enemy has a chance to do anything, potentially robbing multiple enemies of their turns.

After all, some DMs boast of players who will enter a strange town and happily spend an evening chatting with folks for just the fun of roleplaying. Such players are a treasure.

I think if someone did this at my game, I’d go take a nap on the couch and have them wake me up when they’re done.

I’m sorry. I didn’t actually test it! It works without pay. I guess I was a little sensitive knowing that Spotify is taking open podcasts and bringing them behind their service.

I always try to find the RSS feeds and support podcasts that way.
