WhiteHawk,

Idk about equally, but often enough, both sides are indeed wrong.

WhiteHawk,

Yes, because you’re so blinded by your indoctrination that you can’t accept the flaws of “your” side.

WhiteHawk,

I’m not sure what you’re trying to say here

WhiteHawk,

You are absolutely correct. And just to prove your point, some American is definitely going to accuse you of being right-wing (since most of lemmy is left) for pointing that out.

WhiteHawk,

Arguments for what? There are plenty of good arguments in the comment I’m responding to.

WhiteHawk,

Nur ein gutes Kind mit einer Pistole kann ein böses Kind mit einer Pistole aufhalten

WhiteHawk,

Not necessarily a bad place, but definitely one with a huge oil industry

WhiteHawk,

Fair enough

WhiteHawk,

Fair enough :)

WhiteHawk,

Seine Flagge sagt hehehehe

WhiteHawk,

Have you tried, idk, not being an asshole?

WhiteHawk,

Probably since it’s a platform used mostly by dudes, who’ll keep using it afterwards

WhiteHawk,

Not if they were living like most men before, and stay in those communities after transitioning

WhiteHawk,

Maybe being a man just sucks, idk

WhiteHawk,

They’d certainly get offended if someone referred to them as “latinx”, lol

WhiteHawk,

“It didn’t happen. And if it did, they deserved it.”

Israeli army executes an elderly Palestinian after using him in propaganda campaign about its ‘safe corridor’ in Gaza (euromedmonitor.org)

Geneva – The Israeli army’s execution of an elderly Palestinian after using him in a propaganda campaign promoting its “safe corridor” in Gaza was strongly condemned in a statement released by Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor today....

WhiteHawk,

I’m no expert, but it took me about 30s to find out that the organisation’s founder is Palestinian, so I’m not sure that’s a good sign for their objectivity

WhiteHawk,

English is the most spoken language in the world.

WhiteHawk,

Idk and I don’t really care enough to research it, I just wanted to point out that that article makes it quite easy to find reasons for why they would be biased.

WhiteHawk,

Add it to what?

WhiteHawk,

Depends on the context. But I doubt any of them can be objective about a war their own country is involved in.

WhiteHawk,

Not on mobile, but that’s besides the point. The point is - do you seriously believe the organization led by someone from a country engaged in a war is going to be objective in judging what one of the parties in said war is doing? Because if you do, I’ve got a bridge to sell to you.

WhiteHawk,

Calling this news is quite generous, they don’t even try to make it sound like they’re writing news articles. Citing sources seems to be beneath them, other than “someone told us”.

WhiteHawk,

I already read them and replied accordingly. If you don’t understand that, you’re the confused one.

WhiteHawk,

While it has proven difficult to accurately estimate the pre-colonial population and the amount by which it changed under the Congo Free State, estimates for the Congolese population decline during Leopold’s rule range from 1 million to 15 million.

That’s a lot, but not even close to Mao

WhiteHawk,

Who?

Capitalism

Smartest commie right there

WhiteHawk,

What else would it be? I don’t see how one could blame WW1 on a single person. Though I would say most of WW2 could be blamed on a single person, if you really feel like it.

WhiteHawk,

How is that answer offensive??

WhiteHawk,

I agree, but if you ignore all historical context, you could blame one person if you really wanted to, was what I meant.

WhiteHawk,

I think it would be quite reductive to just blame the assassin. Sure, he was the one that created the spark that ignited the conflict, but it had been brewing for years, and we can’t ignore the roles the heads of states were playing in starting the war.

WhiteHawk,

You can’t compare these two situations at all. Princip was not the head of a country.

WhiteHawk,

None? People don’t starve to death in western countries. And where they do the issue is lack of infrastructure. A communist government couldn’t conjure the resources needed to build that out of thin air either.

WhiteHawk,

No need to refute Marx, reality has already proven time and time again that communism doesn’t work in practice.

Btw your argument only applies to “pure” capitalism, without any government interference. Homelessness is not really an issue in many European countries.

WhiteHawk,

I said it doesn’t happen in the west, not that it doesn’t happen anywhere. Please learn to read.

WhiteHawk,

Didn’t take much to stop a system dreamed up by idealists and idiots from working. The very concept is flawed.

WhiteHawk,

Maybe you should have actually read that article before linking it. It discusses in detail the reasons for malnutrition being an issue, and none of those reasons is being unable to afford food. The problems are typically due to age and diseases.

WhiteHawk,

Who cared about Marx? He wrote a book. He didn’t lead a country. Nobody cares about theories when they don’t hold up in practice. And they never have.

WhiteHawk,

This is probably more aimed towards the people that are born or go completely blind later in life

WhiteHawk,

I’m sorry to hear that. That really sucks.

WhiteHawk,

I wish you all the best for dealing with this.

WhiteHawk,

anarcho-capitalism is not the only form of capitalism that exists

WhiteHawk,

You aren’t?

WhiteHawk,

He said a race, not a racing series. Get rid of Abu Dhabi and we’re good.

WhiteHawk,

Well, this thread is fucking depressing

The "bovine" joke in The Restaurant at the end of the Universe (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series)

The whole “bovine” joke was hilarious on one hand and a little horrifying on the other. It got me thinking: how would I feel if an animal I was about to consume came up to me enthusiastically conveying its consent for being eaten? I will be horrified, just like Arthur! But why?...

WhiteHawk,

I believe the correct word here would have been “sapient”, not “sentient”.

WhiteHawk,

I would have used this definition, though apparently used mainly in literature:

Of a species or life-form, possessing intelligence or self-awareness. [source: en.wiktionary.org/wiki/sapient]

Since it makes a lot more sense in this context to be weirded out by the cow talking, rather than it possessing feelings.

WhiteHawk,

Pretty sure that’s how they identified him
