Republican opposition to abortion threatens global HIV/AIDS program that has saved 25 million lives (apnews.com)

The AIDS epidemic has killed more than 40 million people since the first recorded cases in 1981, tripling child mortality and carving decades off life expectancy in the hardest-hit areas of Africa, where the cost of treatment put it out of reach. Horrified, then-President George W. Bush and the U.S. Congress two decades ago...

SirWifflesprouts,

No one lives in isolation. Even if you don’t see the value in humanitarian efforts and even if in your selfishness you don’t have the selfish wisdom to support US soft power projection, you should be smart enough to realize that the US does not exist in an impermeable bubble. Global health improves health at home.

SirWifflesprouts,

The pricing is rough but any vet is going to prefer you be on prevention regardless of where you get it than not.

Simparica Trio is a good product. So is Bravecto, though doesn’t cover heartworm.

Honestly, the dermatitis, skin infections, intestinal parasites, and heartworm that comes from not being on prevention is one of the most depressing and frustrating aspects of working in vet med. Too many dogs have died early and miserable. I hate how expensive it is too, but the long term costs both financially and to quality of life to NOT being on prevention are so much worse.
