Rush,

I use Piped anyways, GG to me for not having had this in ever

Rush,

They’re trying, but there’s tons of servers for them to try and block, and maintainers aren’t dumb.

piped.lunar.icu works well for me.

Rush,

Isn’t this just what verification should’ve been? 🤔

Rush,

Weirdly enough the CLI works better, even though the GUI uses it in the background.

Either way, they’re completely rewriting the Linux client.

Rush,

The act of rooting a device is essentially just giving you access to the highest user permissions, that being equivalent to the “root” user on a Linux system.

This means you get full access to the filesystem and any commands, even if they’re usually reserved to the system.

Rooting is only the act of gaining this access. There is also Custom ROMs - Custom versions of android which cater to various audiences. Most notably there’s projects like LineageOS which aims to provide a polished android distribution that works on many devices.

There’s dedicated communities around specific devices, most notably on the XDA Developers forums and Telegram.

Note that ADB is intended for app development, and whilst it does give you more permissions, it isn’t on the same level as a full root solution like Magisk.

What alternative Android apps do you use for online platforms that are currently in the enshittification phase? (lemmy.world)

Obviously the ideal thing to do would be to stop using them entirely, but if you’re like me and you still have that one subreddit you still need to check on, some of your friends are still there, or you can’t find alternatives to YouTube’s content, then maybe you’re also looking for alternative front-ends that would at...

Rush,
  • Piped for watching YouTube

    • LibreTube provides a native client.
  • Never was on Twitter, but I enjoy mastodon

What's the best app for Youtube right now?

Years ago I used NewPipe but when I wanted a little more from my app I switched the ReVanced until it started giving me more and more issues. For the past 3 months or so I’ve been using a cracked Youtube Premium app, but now it’s dropping every video after about a minute. So what’s everyone using these days to avoid all of...

Rush,

As we’ve seen by youtube restricting you on how to watch your paid-for, downloaded content and how they’re pushing more and more ads, I’d not want to pay them. I literally get a better experience when not doing that.

Rush,

It’s a fork.

Rush,

uBlock Origin (one of the best ad- and tracker blockers) already works, but soon support will FINALLY be expanded to ALL extensions on android, with first-party support by Mozilla.

Rush,

Note: even though it originally came from an acronym, Tor is not spelled “TOR”. Only the first letter is capitalized. In fact, we can usually spot people who haven’t read any of our website (and have instead learned everything they know about Tor from news articles) by the fact that they spell it wrong.

Rush,

who wants to go onto Reddit after what we’ve seen the past couple of weeks anyways? 👀
