There is a substantial amount of spam and NSFW posts on the All page coming through already. Most NSFW posts aren't being tagged as such and are coming right through. I am not sure how this can be weathered but we need something in place fairly soon, I feel like we are days away from rivers of bad stuff, especially via some of...
Beehaw has more than 380 instances blocked. I don't think that kbin blocks anything, where can we see the list?
edit: I see a lot of downvote. You DO understand that some instances are sharing lolita stuff and the police can close the servers of Ernest depending on what is federated? Right?
Another update and possibly a solution for some case where posts were not properly deleted. Seems I jumped the gun on this and the restores haven't been intentional - at least not in this particular case....
I deleted all my content but I did it over the span of a few days, to let the different caches around reddit to update with the new void, and my content is still deleted (so far).
I said it before and I say it again: if you have the patience to do so then make sure you overwrite your content with chatgpt generated content, as the future AI that will feed on your post HATE feeding on already AI generated stuff. It makes the AI diverge.
edit: Filling your previous content with random generated content also make it harder to restore because it is harder to spot, compared with the comments which are simply "deleted". Also, if all of it is really true, congratulation to reddit for demonstrating to everyone and specially the USA how useful the GDPR is for the citizen.
Of course reddit runs his own ones! It is their business to keep people scrolling. The real question is why would there be anyone else running the bots. To sell an account? You can get this with 3 posts in /awww... no need for spam bots.
/m/politics is basically unmoderated, and the trolls and other ne'er-do-wells are starting to find it. I'm not even particularly interested in following it, but that's one topic that you don't want to leave unmoderated. It's a troll magnet for obvious reasons, and that starts to affect the rest of the instance (and the...
Honestly the best move now is to overwrite all your comments with replies from chatgpt, since AI's hate feeding from other AI answers. It's like poisoning the well.
Nine-in-ten atheists say the Earth is getting warmer mostly due to human activity, as do 78% of agnostics. Evangelical Protestants are the least likely to express this view (32%).
Spoiler alert: zero, absolutely zero percent of atheists believe that god is in control of the climate. You would think that a few atheists trolls would have answered "yes" but not this time.
Also the more you believe in god, the less you are concerned by climate change.
Create the subs you need and CREATE CONTENT FOR IT. People will come as long as you have useful information or interesting content. Ask to be given the control of a sub if needed.
Too many people around here create a sub without content just so they can run the place. This need to stop.
For the reddit thing I started browsing reddit without login a long time ago and I don't regret it. Just don't give them any content.
As far as I know the content is duplicated on each server federated, on demand by users requesting content. My guess is that the content will be frozen on the defederation date. Your server won't be able to read, or maybe read, but certainly not write to the other server, and the conversations there will happen without you.
I mean don't get me wrong, its cool a lot of subs have and still are participating in the blackout, but I think it wouldve been better to link a new home for the subreddits participating somewhere in the private message. Show spez, hey if you dont change, we aren't going to use your site (or use it less).
No, don't point redditors to our servers, let them find by themselves. It's a great filter. If someone is motivated enough to leave reddit then he will find us.
And then have no activity in them. Not quite sure why this is happening, is it power hungry idiots thinking if I make fifty magazines, maybe one will be popular?...
It makes me not want to post in those subs. It's as if I was working for someone else. If you have no interest in a subject to the point that you have nothing to say about it then don't take the admin position in the first place.
There are more than 500 people registered to /m/interestingasfuck, with zero post, nothing, absolutely nothing posted there. So don't say that this kind of behavior is for facilitating the experience. It is to gather virtual points of fame. They create it because they think it's gonna get big, not out of interest or to facilitate anything. I don't want this kind of person to moderate the subs I like.
There are probably companies who specialize into fingerprinting and who will provide a module for reddit admins. Even the resolution of your screen or the firefox extensions you use can betray you.
Someone here already has 12 subs on his own. We would be inspired to avoid the era of the power mods. Moding should involve an interest, not just collecting rings of infinity like it's a gold rush. How can it be a good practice in the long term?...
Does anyone else have multiple accounts while looking for new reddit alts? So far I've got accounts on Lemmy, kbin, and Squabbles and I've been lurking on Raddle, Sqwok, and Tildes from the outside....
I tried Raddle and the people there are crazy. I gave it a fair chance but even calling someone "he" is seen as an attack because I didn't instruct myself "whether or not the person wanted to be called he or she or they". This is the hill they are dying on.
I tried lemmy and the big problem is that people are attracted to the most populated subs, namely the subs hosted on lemmy.ml, which is administrated by the crazy chinese. It doesn't matter if you register yourself on beehaw, you will still talk on lemmy.ml, and when you are banned because you said "Taiwan number one" or because you insulted Putin, then you are out of the biggest channels. You can still talk on your own server, sure, but you will talk in a ghost town. The federation model has a limit. This is why we should populate Kbin and not jump on the lemmy.ml ship when the cloudflare component is eventually removed. Build here, stay here.
