Overzeetop, to piracy in How is pirating software a thing?

What kind of cheap-ass, stripped down AutoDesk suite are you getting for $200/mo. Last I checked, the architectural suite was north of $4500/yr.

Overzeetop, to chat in how's your week going, Beehaw

Good to hear good news. The deer pretty much cropped my tomato plants right back to the small tomato cages, knocking most of the protected tomatoes off in the process.

On the bright side, my daughter is home from college for a month and the weather here in the Appalachian mountains has cooled a bit so there are likely some nice evening walks in my future.

Honestly, Real Estate is a race to the bottom. Not that I’m complaining, I found a place that will do a Matterport scan of a small building for $250 and send me CAD files of the floors (I’m a structural engineer, so getting a full 3D photo and scan plan without having to tape a place myself if a huge help).

I got my part 107 so I could justify spending $400 on an OG DJI mini to play with. Turns out it’s actually super useful for getting roof data on existing hvac units (I can read model and serial numbers off face plates). The down side is that it works so well I haven’t been able to justify spending more for a better drone.

Overzeetop, to steamdeck in [Discussion] Playing GOG and Epic games on the Steam Deck, your experience wanted.

This is the biggest reason for me considering wiping my steam deck and installing windows. I know that’s heresy in this community but, honestly, I don’t give two shits about my OS, I just want to play the games. If using the touch pad and a set of desktop icons (which is how my desktop pc is configured) works, fine. I’ve never owned a console and don’t need the console experience.

For now I have more Steam backlog than I can play, but when I get around to swapping the SSD…well , I’ll burn that bridge when I get there.

They had my inertia. I moved from free to $25/yr. Then watched as it crept up to $60/yr with basically zero improvements. I bailed at $120/yr for a terrible transition to a new db style that could only be updated in real time as you opened each note (taking 3-45 seconds per note to update) and a promised AI component for which I have no use.

Different use cases, indeed. All I need is plaintext, images, and in-line pdf rendering. No audio, no video, no LaTeX, not even italics or bold.

Now, to be completely fair, while Joplin is great for simple notes, it’s data entry modes are weird AF. I assume, in a programmers mind, the operation is normal for an IDE as it can’t/won’t render links/objects in line with editing. You either get a markup-only window that’s editable, a rendered window that is read only, or lose half your screen to a split-view version. These options are selected via two, separate, unlabeled, non-status-indicating toggle buttons which cycle through 2 and 3 versions if the view.

Aside from that, it seems nice.
