** GlitchSoc new features on tech.lgbt ** Oooo ... nice to see that we have a couple of useful new features: any weird looking posts in the next week may be me playing around with:

Comment: I do still love [#Calckey for it's migration of posting history and 'Antennae', but for now at least have realised I'll wait until mobile #Fedilab :android:​ App supports it fully - which is supposed to be coming. Fedilab is so feature-rich ...]

I'm always careful not to view the #Fediverse in terms of increasing User Count due to bots and dormant/lifeboat accounts but FediDB looks interesting as it shows better data points like MAU (monthly active users) and activity (post count)

While MAU has dropped off since February '23, the posting activity has still continued to increase each month, you chatty lot

Some key Calckey thoughts after a few days in the deep-end, trialling it [hopefully a no-hype end-user perspective]

• KEY IMPRESSIONS

1️⃣ Has real potential, new features in there that are not in Mastodon eg. word search, antennas, message chats, channels ++ 👍

2️⃣ Many will love it just for the amazing web UI plus a decent android PWA app

3️⃣ Still a work-in-progress though overall

• quality
• lack of user documentation, we're learning as we go
• a few key Mastodon features aren't there yet eg. Edit Post doesn't exist ⚠️
• timelines feel cluttered
• some published #Calckey new features (eg. migration of posts) are pretty "beta-status" when you actually try them out
• it can be fine or frustrating depending on all the above

4️⃣ 3rd-party mobile app support is very limited vs. say Mastodon (Tusky, Fedilab, Megalodon, Tooot etc on :android:)

• SUMMARY

Real potential, but for now it's very early adoption phase / try-before-you-move
