KilgoreTheTrout11,

I'm going to keep using mine for a while. It's not my only phone. I still use my LGV60 and my LG wing and a newer pixel sometimes. Those are all so big And I like the fact that the pixel 4a can fit in my front pocket.

I'll keep using them until the batteries aren't workable anymore. Whatever risk there is with security patches I think is overshadowed by the environmental and financial downsides of tossing away perfectly good hardware.

I'll probably be fine using it for another year or so . As to what I would replace it with I'm not sure. Probably a used pixel just because they're the best value proposition.

So 5a has gets android, another year of updates and it can be a 100 Bucks on eBay. The pixel 6 and 6 pro are 200 to 275 on ebay and they are getting like 40 more months of updates.

Samsung phones don't have quite the same Compelling prices on the resal market .

KilgoreTheTrout11,

I actually think the pixel 3 is underrated it's basically the same size as a pixel 4 a but it has better chip and the glass build and the squeeze for assistant functionality. No headphone Jack though and stuck on android 12.

But still I often recommend it to people that really don't have much money and need something in a pinch . Got a pixel 3 for $70 on woot. I absolutely love the texture. Unfortunately I think the version I have cannot use a custom rom so it's definitely dated. But I think it's still basically fine to use.

I don't think I would have loved to pay 8 or $900 for it at MSRP when it came out but at 70 bugs it's fucking amazing

KilgoreTheTrout11,

It's hard for me as a value conscious person to recommend the 7a over the 6a even though I prefer the 7 a because of the wireless charging. But there's ways to get the pixel 6a for $90 ( We'll technically 50 but you have to buy a $40 plan). From metro pcs although you'll have to wait 6 months to unlock it . But you only need to pay for the $40 plan onc.

But even if you don't want to deal with that hassle it's easy to find it for under $200 on the reso market. Be by the holiday the pixel 7a will start to see sales for $350 or below. $250 on resale.

It's not that I even need wireless charging but I like to have it as a fail-safe in case the port breaks . It's one of the most common things to break on a phone.

KilgoreTheTrout11,

Yeah this is basically the way the Democrats of operated my entire life and possibly longer.

They claim there needs to be a strong Republican party and that they want bipartisanship. They already are starting off as being More right wing than every single European conservative party or any conservative party in the OECD basically on issues like health care and social policy.

Same with the debt ceiling thing. There was a million ways around that besides caving to the Republicans on cutting food stamps.

KilgoreTheTrout11,

I don't think he can, but he shouldn't give up the fight before it's even started. If you have the presidency the bully pulpit you could at least start to put the idea into the minds of the Americans and normalize. It certainly better than just bending over.

Mean there's not a very good chance for a single-payer healthcare system to be instituted anytime soon but that doesn't mean politician shouldn't openly advocate for it.

KilgoreTheTrout11,

We should probably just abolish the court as it has no functional value anyways.

The fact is, Republicans effectively stole to supreme Court seats based on legislative tactics. This is basically unprecedented.

KilgoreTheTrout11,

Probably just a matter of days or hours. Infinity for Reddit is still working in the developer percent it'll be available for a couple days. I'm not sure the exact logistics of why but for some reason it seems that some people that are pivoting into a paid subscription model are able to stomach a few days

KilgoreTheTrout11,

Yeah the subscription is going to have to be so expensive and almost all that money went would think would go to Reddit.

KilgoreTheTrout11,

I think Infinity for Reddit had a desktop app.

I'm as excited about the rumors of improved desktop modes and video out support for the Pixel 8 as the next guy, but we've fielded these kinds of rumors before.

Currently the only phone I have that can run an Android 14 beta, AND has video out, just did this using the desktop mode in Android dev settings.

Which is even more broken than the A13 desktop mode, which was already almost nonfunctional from the A12 mode.

I really WANT Google to give us a Pixel 8 with a proper desktop or tablet large screen mode, but I'm not getting my hopes up until we see the phone in action.

KilgoreTheTrout11,

@SomeGadgetGuy agree
