Boyfriend of 2 years (best friend of 6) just told me he’s started seeing someone else. No discussion. Just ghosted me for a week and hit me with this news. Thought he was my soulmate, lmao. I feel like someone just ripped out my insides. Just turned 31 this year, this shit is not any easier than when I was a teenager....
Half of it, in my experience as an old white guy, is old white guys (not me) dumping their emotional shit on people who can’t afford not to listen to it.
The other half, and I forgot what it’s called, but there’s a rule in resource management that a particular office task will always expand to fill the time allotted for completion.
That all said, a very well balanced individual might be able to do serious focus work for six hours per day before their brain turns to shit, before their memory, recall, intuition, logic, and rationality get all fuzzy.
Former Trump campaign lawyer Jenna Ellis pleaded guilty Tuesday in the Georgia election subversion case and will cooperate with Fulton County prosecutors – the third guilty plea in the past week....
There are some guilty pleas that won’t result in your law license being taken away. Even some felony charges don’t necessarily mean you get disbarred. But a felony charge for submitting a false instrument, is not one of them. That is a crime of moral turpitude, and I’m 95% certain she will now be disbarred.
Possibly. I think the last two pleas were only to misdemeanors. Not that the distinction is a defining factor, but it makes a difference as bars are more tolerant of lesser offenses; it’s really about the nature of the crime, two or three DUIs, no problem, embezzlement or forgery however is serious problem. The bar cannot abide lawyers with convictions for crimes of dishonesty, most especially crimes involving entrusted money or property, or as it were, crimes that involve submitting falsified documents to the state.
Government needs to be able to trust people. If lawyers are let to make a mockery of that trust, the social compact falls apart. You’d have to have an administrative trial everytime you need to renew your license or vote. It would be Kafkaesque.
These are serious offenses, seriously antisocial behavior, un-American.
Yes every lawyer is required to self report any conviction to the bar immediately. Delay or failure to report is basically an immediate, long term suspension, six months, one years, if not disbarment, and that’s just on the lack of candor/failure to report, there will still be a hearing on the underlying criminal conviction.
It’s a false dichotomy. There is no such thing as responsible gun owners and irresponsible gun owners, just gun owners. Believe it or not, human beings are frail and emotional creatures, prone to decompensation. Most of us will die without our faculties or dignity intact. It is this feature of humanity that makes gun ownership so dangerous.
Along with the absolute nut jobs who’s gullibility and lack of integrity seem to know no limit when it comes to interpreting the Second Amendment.
My older buddy tells me about how he used to bring his rifle on the school bus because he was on the high school shooting team. In and of itself, I don’t think anyone can say such a change is either good or bad, just that the culture is different, as it always is after as many years.
All good dude. Sounds like you are a good friend. She may have been just as fragile as he was, letting her emotions rule, not knowing what to do. Man if everyone had friends like you maybe nobody would kill themselves. But lots of people have friends like themselves, too.
Been there. Just saying she obviously had her own problems. He kept calling her, she kept answering; they were both told to let the shit go. It’s a hard world out here. Everyone is looking for something.
Sarah Katz, 21, had a heart condition and was not aware of the drink’s caffeine content, which exceeded that of cans of Red Bull and Monster energy drinks combined, according to a legal filing
The warning has to be reasonable for its purpose. Intended and likely to reach the consumer, and to be understood. It’s meant to fairly apprise consumers of the material risks.
There is nothing resembling a warning. That’s fine if it’s just regular lemonade. It seems to me to be positioned as basically regular lemonade and otherwise indistinguishable except for “charged,” “# mg caffiene,” and “natural ingredients.”
This information seems inadequate based on the seriousness and likelihood of the material risk. The girl’s condition is apparently pretty common, the seriousness of the danger is deathly, and the likelihood that consumers in the girl’s position are as likely as not to understand the danger. More is required.
The average consumer does not know about dosages of caffeine in milligrams, and possible side effects. The labeling seems hardly likely to inform a consumer that one glass of lemonade they are about to drink is the equivalent of drinking three cups of coffee. Who the fuck puts caffiene into lemonade? Is it even lemonade?
Edit: speech to text has gotten worse lately. Also, I have to wonder whether anyone asked for this product? I wonder what the focus groups said. Did they even do them? The more I think of this the worse the idea seems.
After deliberating for a day and a half, the jury found Logan Clegg, 27, guilty of second-degree murder in the deaths of Stephen and Djeswende Reid in April 2022
Bullet fragments didn’t match. Description of the man seen near the scene didn’t match. Seems like some room for doubt there. Wonder what all the other evidence was.
Also, compared to any other city builder, there really is no competition. Even if the launch was truly botched, the game was unplayable, nobody got about 12 fps, there’s not another full feature city builder. Not since SimCity blew it’s brains out.
The skyrocketing cost of insurance premiums in Florida is leading residents to drop their insurance, consider selling their home, and even move out of the state, according to recent reports....
Since humans invented math and fossil fuels, this moment was inevitable. The writing has been on the wall in Florida for ten years.
I forgot the actual statistics, but it’s something crazy. Like Florida constitutes 8% of the country’s homeowners insurance policies, but 80% of all homeowners insurance litigation. Florida real estate is a ponzi scheme now.
They’ve got miles and miles and miles of roads in Florida lined with 10-million dollar, beachfront houses, all of which will sooner than later be buried under 25 ft of seaweed for the next thousand years. The question is who will be left holding the bag on all that risk?
I’m certain the Republicans in the Florida legislature will let the insurance companies off of the hook before too long here, and will leave working people holding a bunch of worthless real estate, just waiting for climate catastrophe to wipe everything away.
My understanding is that the substantial majority of roof damage claims were legitimate and attributable to predatory roofing companies that would finance and install new roofs after a storm at a huge discount, they’d install a shitty fucked up roof, then would sell the debt to a third party servicer, and then the roofing company would close up shop, rebrand under a new name, and do it again. By the time the roof fails, the original company is long gone leaving the homeowner and the insurers holding the bag.
The legislature and the insurers realized they had a impending consumer crisis and loosened the laws about paying these claims, and essentially opened the door to the fraud.
I wonder if the real issue at this point is that Florida just attracts fraudsters. It was their laws that allowed contractors to have a revolving door of LLC’s.

do you find it difficult to get into games? I’ve got Epic Games and Steam Games libraries chock-full of classic top-tier games along with many other newer games like Stray or 2077, and a bunch of indie titles. As I get older I find I have to know what I like and spend extra time selecting titles because I know that I won’t be buying that many games because I don’t have time to play all that much. I buy what I know I will like and that way I will finish it. I don’t want to feel like I’ve wasted time.
Sometimes I jump back and replay games that I really enjoyed. Even like an MMO, I’ll reactive my character after years of not playing.ast game I bought was Witcher 3 on Steam sale. Will be buying Cities 2 this week, after waiting for it for years and years.
Same for me but one other use I’ve found is to allow ancient devices to connect to the internet, such as an old gaming console or laptop that can’t be updated to meet modern specs, usually my phone is like, “sure, no problem, outdated and unsecured device, I’m happy to share my secrets with you.”
So what? Doesn’t affect you in any way to treat others with respect. If you do not call someone what they ask to be called, that is disrespectful.
You don’t have to do it, either. It’s not against the law. But nobody has to employ you, or invite you to fun things, or let you converse with the adults when it’s time to make decisions, or stay married to you.
Either way, insofar as it’s also a matter your beliefs, that really just means it’s about your emotional reaction. That makes sense but you have to know it’s not rational.

Federalism gives the sovereign inherent authority to perpetuate itself. This is basic western philosophy of government. I mean, have you heard of martial law? Not in the Constitution either, but zero question of its legitimacy in times of existential threat to the federal power.
Hey if only downvotes changed facts. There are also the necessary and proper clause, police powers clause, general welfare clause, common defense clause, war powers clause, interstate commerce clause. You go read it.

Always reminded me of the Battle of the Frogs. Talk as much shit about French military success, but one night a bunch of actual croaking frogs sent the residents of an entire New England town screaming into the night because of the mere thought that French soldiers were approaching as they slept. The cunning and brutality of French soldiers was practically mythical.
I don’t know they were fighting about Canada or something. /s
