How do you sort your posts in subscribed communities? I’ve been sorting by active, but I keep seeing older stuff that I’ve already seen. Is there a better way to sort?
Well, it hasn’t improved my life in any way because it’s just a website I’ve stopped using.
But most of the threads on Reddit degenerated into shitslinging and just general unpleasantness. I’ve not come across any of that here (yet) and it is refreshing. Not to mention the lack of ads and algorithms pushing stuff at me is like the old days.
In 1990, there were 750 million people in poverty. Then the pro-market reforms kicked in, and in 2016 the number of people in poverty has fallen to 7 million.
Currently reading the Chronicles of St Mary’s series. I’m on book 10, which is the last one that I own, but I’ve really enjoyed the series so will definitely pick up the rest at some point.
It’s a series about historians who time travel to document historical events, so there’s an accurate telling of the story rather than things being disputed. It often ends up going wrong though. It’s rather light-hearted (apart from book 8 where everything goes a bit serious), and the humour is great. Similar humour to Terry Pratchett’s books, I would say, though I haven’t read loads of his work.
Tbh, I tried Mastodon when everyone was raving about it, and even with a guide I couldn’t make sense of it.
Lemmy is a little bit confusing to begin with as I’m not overly familiar with the fediverse, but at least it’s easy to get the hang of if you’ve ever used Reddit. Mastodon seemed like a nightmare to navigate, but maybe it’s easier now, I don’t know.
I looked up a list of Lemmy World instances and signed up for a bunch, but how do I see everything at once in one app instead of downloading one for each instance? I am new to what the kids call “federation.” Thank you.

So I went back and tested things out. I can’t even log in. It says “Invalid username. Try again.” Thanks Elon. I’ve had that account since 2021.
