Thank you, this in the above posts clarified quite a bit

Did you ever have a classmate that pretended to be a vampire or some other supernatural creature? How much did they commit to it? (kbin.social)

I had a couple classmates that pretended to be vampires back in elementary and middle school. They’d pretend their Koolaid was blood, complain about the sunlight, and bite their friends a lot. Not enough to draw blood, though. I haven’t kept up with most of them, but one guy is a teacher now. He seems pretty normal.

An interesting self delusion, hopefully harmless though

KBin feels so fresh and I find myself posting here often now

Hondolor,
@Hondolor@kbin.social avatar

agree. Part of why I liked reddit was that I could customize my feed to ignore political diatribe (left and right) and just read the feeds that interest me. Lemmy is so infested with leftists that it spills over into every part of their community

McDonnalds is still my go to for cheap and fast. You know what your getting and if your savvy you can get a lot of food for low cost. Breakfast menu is actually my prefered time to eat there

I just want to point out that not everyone with an unpopular opinion is a troll. I think this is important as many people get victimized by a group for posting something unpopular, getting ganged up on. Be careful where you post!

Is there any one else who feels like their life has been disrupted by this whole debacle with Reddit. (kbin.social)

I really do like KBin and Lemmy and the fediverse on the whole, but development is still young and the userbase still growing. KBin is still basically early access, and Lemmy is buggy. I spent alot of time in reddit and I'm feeling the pain of trying to ween myself from it. Just wanted to here community perspectives and see how...

KBin is fairly intuitive as well, in spite of it's lack of some quality of life improvements they need to implement. I am using it pretty active now on it.

It's just the studio that's breaking up, those 25 employees will likely find new work in the same or similar industry. Still it's always a blow to see a new team crumble under the pressure. I never played the game, but it looked well made. I could have told you before they developed it though that the concept was flawed. They were trying to ride the LOTR fan base and it backfired I guess.

Hondolor,
@Hondolor@kbin.social avatar

So wait then it's way easier to get down votes than upvotes and get a bad reputation?

Hondolor,
@Hondolor@kbin.social avatar

oof, I don't like how that is at all. Is this by design or will that change ever?

Hondolor,
@Hondolor@kbin.social avatar

Oh thats a relief. It's silly but I love me some internet points

KBin is actually the best reddit alternative I've seen in along time. The truth is though that reddit has a 15 year head start and giant conglomerate corperate backing. Even though federated sites like this are getting better and better all the time the user base is still small when you compare it to the internet monster that is reddit. This site still has along way to go in terms of users, content, and overall polish and ease of use. I look forward to the day when I site like this can scare the likes of reddit, but sadley I don't feel that today is that day. This is coming from a place of support for the fediverse btw.

I can feel the emotion in that post. It's so sad. All that time and effort.

Thats an interesting take on things

Lemmy.ml is blocking all requests from /kbin Instances (kbin.social)

I discovered yesterday evening that Lemmy.ml is blocking all inbound ActivityPub requests from /kbin instances. Specifically, a 403 'access denied' is returned when the user agent contains "kbinBot" anywhere in the string. This has been causing a cascade of failures with federation for many server owners, flooding the message...

Kbin seems alot better so far than Lemmy. First time I"m hearing about it but so far it's a better experience

Not exactly in the same vain as 3d game but Endless Sky and all the Escape velocity games. Escape Velocity is the grand daddy of all space games, and was even pseudo 3d when that was a rarity for games.

Hondolor,

KBin seems like the most promising thing I've seen in the fediverse in ages. I've been following it for a long time but I feel like this mass migration might be just the thing that gives it momentum

I find it annoying that the only way to see my subscribbed "magazines" is to go into my profile and then find the section for subscribbed. Reddit always did it so effeciently where you have your subscribbed subreddits on top or in a drop down menu in the case of the new reddit.
