"Today, PlayStation revealed that its PS5 has sold 40 million units. Microsoft doesn’t share hardware numbers typically, but court documents, math, and slides from an ID@Xbox in Brazil seem to suggest the Xbox Series X|S line-up is around 20-23 million units sold globally. That essentially puts the PS5 at a 2:1 advantage...
“[Matt]has spent well in excess of £10,000 on player packs in the Fifa football game”
Holy shit. I spend a lot on video games, probably more than anyone should. But my biggest expenditures would be say a new system or peripheral. I can’t even imagine spending that much, on one game, for no good reason.
If developers and publishers of these games werent complete pieces of shit, they would at least place a cap on how much one person could spend. But they won’t.
The deal is for 10 years. That sounds like a lot but in reality that’s just a bit longer than the average console generation. I would not be at all surprised if after the 10 years they make CoD completely Xbox exclusive.

I really like card games like this game, but most other alternatives I could find are pay to win. Are there any similar games like Marvel:Midnight Suns?
I’m a huge fan of Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden and Miasma Chronicles. They’re both made by the same developer, The Bearded Ladies. Both feature excellent post apocalyptic stories and characters, as well as turn based combat with real time free roaming and exploration in between. Biggest difference is in MYZ you have a crew largely composed of anthropomorphic animals, who are hilarious. In MC, your main character (Elvis) and robot brother Diggs are trying to find your mom.
Microsoft creates demand for their system largely by buying up publishers and turning all their future games exclusive, that would otherwise have been multiplatform.
Sony and Nintendo create demand for their system largely by making great games in house, that otherwise never would have existed.
So yes you’re right but one is much shittier than the other.
... the Court finds the FTC has not shown a likelihood it will prevail on its claim this particular vertical merger in this specific industry may substantially lessen competition. To the contrary, the record evidence points to more consumer access to Call of Duty and other Activision content. The motion for a preliminary injunction is therefore DENIED.
People like my friend Dave, I guess. He’s got Game Pass practically for life (bought through one of those insane 'convert all your Xbox Gold time to Game Pass for $1" deals) and he wants as many “free” games as he can get. Like Call of Duty, last time he bought a Call of Duty game was probably 10 years ago, but he’s still very excited about the prospect of Call of Duty on Game Pass.
The same execs that bought the company already half way through development of Starfield, and rather than delivering anything new or of value, only wanted to make sure it was extinguished on other systems?
As for “execs behind Halo,” the less said the better. I’ve never seen a series driven so hard into the ground.
I would argue there’s a huge difference between, say, one year of timed exclusivity for one game, versus buying an entire publisher and making every single one of their future games exclusive.
