«French doctors vow to ‘disobey’ bill stripping undocumented #migrants of healthcare rights

A push by #France ’s conservative-led Senate to strip undocumented migrants of their access to free healthcare has sparked a public outcry among workers across the medical profession, many of whom have pledged to ignore a measure they describe as an ethical, sanitary and financial aberration. »

Still pondering the supposed scientific proof of determinism; its claim of "there is no free will". 1st, seems likely there's much we don't know about the cause & effect of experience & behavior. There may be a sort orthogonal or gestalt factor we're unaware of. 2nd, determined events happen within time. It is possible to seat the mind outside of time, in eternity. Not figuratively, actually. Once there, conscious choice becomes possible, outside the subjective routine of cause & effect.

I think there isn't a "boolean" yes/no response to this.

Some things can come from free will (like I decide to see a video rather than go to sleep - even knowing I'll fall asleep in front of the screen), while many others are a consequence of other things/conventions/traditions etc. driving our mind (like making dishes after supper or dressing before to leave home).

Maybe I want to see a video because back in 1966 my parents send me to bed rather than allowing me to watch some other TV… who knows?

But I agree: there is still room for free will.

@actuallyautistic Filed under,

don't move my stuff

Expectation that my things will remain where I keep them.

Does anyone else have a tendency to get really frustrated and upset when something you keep in a certain location is moved randomly by someone else? And you look everywhere, and can't find it? And the more you look, and as you realize it's not turning up, and you just can't find it, a feeling of utter calamity and dismay, of catastrophic sense of "the universe is no longer the same" sets in.

I really can go into a highly upset state of mind. Some would no doubt call this a meltdown.

To have things always in the same precise place lengthen the life!

Or, better, give you a lot more time to make funny things rather than running around swearing and looking for things.

Honest questions here, what's the problem with mowing the lawn?

I mean...I have a lawn, a nice one, full of different local herbs and flowers.
There are plenty of different insects and sometimes small hawks or owls come to hunt.
But I also have to move around the garden and if I don't keep the grass reasonably low, it will grow well past my knees.
Some herbs and flowers will thrive that way, but some others wont.

So I feel like I'm missing something about this whole thing.

What about an elevated walkway (so cats can hide below it)?

Today I noticed, Techdirt writer @mmasnick now has more followers on , than he had back at the hill of the dying bird.

And people keep sending me messages, saying Mastodon will never succeed.

Clearly, they don't know toot.

Mike is a Nice Guy™, and it's a pleasure to know him.

How many primadonnas would speak of faucets instead of boasting and bragging about how they are important and famous?

Mike, you don't have an idea of how many people would be ready to bribe Wikipedia editors to have a photo on a page 😄
