GigglyBobble, to technology in Google Intros Chromebook Plus Devices With More Power, Apps and AI for $399

But contrary to Linux or even Windows (unless they pull some hardware requirement shit again) you need to switch to another OS and not simply do a release upgrade.

GigglyBobble, to technology in Google Intros Chromebook Plus Devices With More Power, Apps and AI for $399

Why do you compare patches for major software releases with updates for hardware? Those are completely different topics.

GigglyBobble, to technology in Google Intros Chromebook Plus Devices With More Power, Apps and AI for $399

LTS just means staying on the same release and guaranteed support for that time which is important for businesses. As a consumer you can always just do a release upgrade.

Since most businesses rely on Windows anyway, that's pretty much irrelevant for this discussion. They cannot use Chromebooks either.

GigglyBobble, to linux in Anyone have a better solution? :P

Why are there so many paru fans? Last release is a year old, constantly out of date in AUR and failing builds in Github don't scream code quality. I prefer yay.

Browsers do have exploits from time to time. Clicking suspicious URLs can be dangerous.

GigglyBobble, to technology in I want Android to get a lot better so I'm telling people to buy an iPhone 15

I hate the Apple approach of "90% of users don't understand this, so we won't allow it". That's exactly the reason I cannot use Apple products. I've always argued exactly like you - offer expert settings instead. That requires more testing for their QA but PCs are still around, so it's obviously doable.

GigglyBobble, to greentext in Anon loses respect for her boyfriend

It's not about not respecting them, it's about the supposedly boring game play. That's why everyone is looking for good healers - everyone wants to play DD instead (even though healers often have bigger numbers).

GigglyBobble, to europe in How many people live in their own property?

Right. That's one major reason not to buy real estate in Germany for renting it out. Tenants can basically destroy your property and there's hardly anything you can do about it. There are other kinds of assets to build wealth though.

GigglyBobble, to technology in This week’s dead Google products: Google Podcasts, basic Gmail, and more!

Wouldn't a locally installed IMAP client produce less traffic than any web UI? I only use those.

GigglyBobble, to europe in How many people live in their own property?

Germany is also last when it's about ownership in general though. Germans have pretty low net worth considering the country's economic power because they love their Girokonto and their Sparbuch (aka money gets eaten by inflation).

It has been ages since I installed Windows 11

Ages? Really? It was released two years ago.

GigglyBobble, to technology in Philips Hue will force users to upload their data to Hue cloud

It has been the case for well over a decade but for free web stuff. Philips Hue lights are expensive and still they pull this shit. That's something that just started quite recently.

At least you can read it without unblocking js. That's becoming rarer and rarer.

the ads, bloat, spyware, needs to go

They just introduced them. What makes you think this isn't an integral part of the future of Windows?

GigglyBobble, to technology in How to Actually Clean Install Windows 11

Isn't it ironic how you need instructions now to install Windows with a bearable level of bloat? Kinda like installing Arch just for uninstalling/skipping instead of installing.
