FigMcLargeHuge, to technology in Welcome to the Age of Paid Social Media

Last line of the article: “Just like choosing not to ride on airplanes isn’t really an option, for many, using social media isn’t much of a choice either.

Holy crap. We have reached that point. As someone with no social media, it just amazes me how people have let these apps become ingrained in their lives. Sad in my opinion.

Rumor is it was sabotage. His brake lines sprung a leek.

Lettuce never speak of this again.

So perfect!

FigMcLargeHuge, to news in Tom Hanks says AI version of him used in dental plan ad without his consent

I think this goes deeper than just actors compensation. This will take things to a new level when this hits courtrooms. Imagine sitting there watching a video of you doing something you never actually did entered into evidence.

FigMcLargeHuge, to piracy in Now that Plex is dead, where to find servers/what platform?

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. My brain is not a good brain.

FigMcLargeHuge, (edited ) to piracy in Now that Plex is dead, where to find servers/what platform?

I mean if you want to go full technical here, your dvd/bluray player is breaking the DRM as well.

Edit: Ignore this, I am a dumbass.

FigMcLargeHuge, to austin in Weekly Ask Austin Thread

How, in 2023, is someone sill making money doing Bill Clinton and George Bush impersonations??

FigMcLargeHuge, to moviesandtv in Netflix mails its final DVDs to subscribers

Sad day for me.

FigMcLargeHuge, to news in This isn't theft of need. A more insidious type of crime is pushing some stores to close

Hopefully not now that the FCC sued them and wants to break up Amazon.

Oh my sweet summer child…

FigMcLargeHuge, to news in ‘Unprecedented’ theft contributed to $112 billion in retail losses last year

Apples and oranges. If you are a cashier and theft occurs you aren’t paid enough to risk anything, including your life, to stop theft. Companies can hire more asset protection people.

FigMcLargeHuge, to news in ‘Unprecedented’ theft contributed to $112 billion in retail losses last year

It has the feel of “we are the ones being shoplifted…”

FigMcLargeHuge, to memes in Reddit is dead. Long live the Fediverse.

Hell, there’s too many people on Lemmy giving reddit too much activity. I blocked a couple of bots that were literally just yanking posts from reddit. They even left the links right back to reddit giving them the actual traffic. We can do better people. If I want shitty reddit content I would just go there.

FigMcLargeHuge, to asklemmy in Netflix Discs is going away, where will you rent/buy disc based media?

Not sure what you mean. You said disc based media is obsolete, and I explained why it isn’t. I am not arguing about digital vs analog here. I am explaining why a form of digital media is still in use.

FigMcLargeHuge, to asklemmy in Netflix Discs is going away, where will you rent/buy disc based media?

Because not everyone has gigabit fiber run to their door. Streaming is not always the answer. I have read through all the back and forth here, but this is the point that was lost in the conversation. While it may be obsolete to you, it’s still the easiest way to transfer large amounts of data to someone that might not have any internet other than their cell phone service.
