I've switched my #task management system from #Todoist to #Obsidian and back several times over the past year.
And now I have a confession to make. I think I have chosen, and my choice is Todoist...
@seo11@msemochkin@obsidianmd OmniFocus for tasks here, but the idea that one tool can do everything really well seems silly to me. Cross linking was invented for a reason …
@msemochkin@seo11@obsidianmd true, sort of. I mean you do you, but there’s a point where I think I’m spending huge amounts of effort replicating 80% of the value of a more specialised app and the friction is getting in the way.
@fleg@msemochkin@seo11@obsidianmd Things never gelled for me. The point being that the detail of these choices are as personal as of an art medium or musical instrument or fountain pen or rollerball or ball point or whatever.
As an avid reader I find research suggesting over 50% of 8-18yr olds do not 'enjoy reading' in their spare time particularly depressing!
Part of this is a Q. of them having a quiet space to read, but in part must also be related to #socialmedia sucking up their time & also (possibly) to the way that reading is framed as instrumental (not enjoyable) for #education?
As someone who has benefitted immeasurably from #reading, I so hope this can be reversed
@jemmesedi@ChrisMayLA6@bookstodon I think there’s a romanticised view of how it used to be too. Reading was never a universal thing. Doubt the numbers were really that different forty years ago.
