is anyone else bothered by the lack of the 3 buttons at the bottom

So i just bought Asus rog phone 6d and im extremely bothered by the lack of the back ,home and whatewer is the 3 one called buttons on the news androids. Is this something you all got used to with time or does this still bother you( IT really fells much less intuitive compared to the old 3 buttons ,alghtough preferably i would...

Axion,

I loved Android’s 3 button nav for years but after like a week of using gestures I couldn’t go back. Once I got the hang of it, it was way more fluid feeling to use.

Axion,

You should also be able to swipe on the message to direct reply and send reactions too

Axion, (edited )

The one bug that I’ve had for a long while now is the “auto resend as SMS” feature that’s supposed to kick in if the RCS chat fails, takes forever to work. It’s much faster to just manually hit the send as SMS option if there are issues going on.

It uses the Signal protocol for its encryption so they went with a well known and proven option, but metadata isn’t encrypted like it is with the actual Signal app apparently so it’s not quite as secure.

A good chunk of my family uses Android and all have RCS enabled so I get to use it a good amount and it’s been pretty solid for me.

Edit: the desktop app is actually just a PWA website so that might be able to get around your work PC’s restrictions on installing apps.

Axion,

That’s actually strange. Google said a while back that all devices with Google Messages installed should be able to use it regardless of carrier too.

Axion,

Google’s RCS has 800M active users and it’s projected to hit 1B by the end of the year matching iMessage’s usage. Whether people actually know that it’s RCS or not, it’s been a pretty successful service for Google so far.

Axion,

I’m in the same boat. Sync was my go to Reddit client and will most likely be my go to Lemmy client. For now though I don’t mind Connect and it’s Canadian so gotta support the fellow Cannuck lol

What are Android's Best Weather Apps? (kbin.social)

Ever since I started using smart phones, I have been jumping between different weather apps and have not been very satisfied with most of them. I found the apps from the big weather providers like Accuweather and Weather Channel to be bloated and distracting with advertisements and irrelevant news. The app I was closest to being...

Axion,

Overdrop is a really nice one with a great looking UI.

Carrot Weather is also pretty good and has funny quotes it shows you if you like that kinda thing, but the dev is primarily an IOS developer so the Android app is pretty far behind feature wise if you compare the two versions.
