An advanced computer-aided design program, called AD2000, available from Control Data Corp., helps to automate the industrial design and drafting process. It was used to create this automotive component model displayed on a computer graphics terminal (1978).

CBI Image o' Day. A 1969 note from Grace Hopper to Jack Jones, US Air Force on their CODASYL work & COBOL’s creation by her, Jean Sammet, Jones, +others. Hopper is suggesting important contributors to CODASYL who were at the '59 demo, to invite for the '69 COBOL 10th Anniversary Celebration including Alan Taylor who had become Editor of then new magazine Computerworld.

CBI Image of the Day. Mathematician & pioneering programmer Ida Rhodes in 1959, at NBS (there from 1940 to' 71). Early '50s, she co-designed C-10 language w/ Betty Holberton for the UNIVAC & led in computer Russian language translation.

CBI holds the Frances E. Holberton (Betty Holberton) Papers, one of our standout collections on women in computing/software.
