Can anyone recommend any particularly good research / articles that explain why sending interview candidates the questions you are going to ask them in advance of the interview is a good thing to do? Particularly in higher education (but anywhere will do)? Thanks!

@politicscurator @academicchatter I believe Leeds Library was as well. Looking up “Fair Library Jobs” and asking that group (used to be on X, now have a Substack) is also a good shout. Thomas Peach, in particular might know specific studies. (For a piece of anecdote-data, we have been doing this for years now (at the advice of our disability support service) and loads of candidates have remarked how supportive it is.

@academicchatter Trying to pursue this & HR are citing potential candidates use of AI as a reason to not do this (!) 🙄

  1. AI isn't going to be able to write what somebody's experience is (it might extract it from their CV perhaps, but that would be fine since the experience is real and exists.

  2. If the concern is that AI might help them lie / make up answers to the questions, well - isn't that also a problem that could happen without AI?

Very baffling.

I like Vanity Fair's headline:

"Donald Trump Pleads Not Guilty to Trying to Overturn the Election, Despite Us All Witnessing Him Trying to Overturn the Election"

@Aatube Because, without algorithms, tags and shares are the only way to get posts seen and grow your network. Tags are the lifeblood of Mastodon and sometimes, the #HashtagGames are amusing.

Personally, I don't think they should class towards your letter-count either, but sadly that would be impractical tech-wise.

@Lorry But hashtags like "He" and "VanityFair" probably won't help since nobody would be looking at that. Also while I despise kbin's algorithm for microblogs, I'm pretty sure mastodon has a competent one in my limited experience.
