Does anybody know where to buy a copy of Morningstar, Liz William’s final #DetectiveInspectorChen novel? I tried Smashwords, which lead me to her Live Journal where I saw she was selling it self-pubbed back in 2014. There are a couple of comments from late 2022 on her LJ that have gone unanswered about this same thing.
@farbel@bookstodon Yeah. That’s as much as I was able to figure out as well. I picked up the omnibus volumes containing the first five books and was hoping the sixth was still available because, according to Reddit, the fifth book ends in a huge cliffhanger.
Is there a hashtag where publishers here post open calls for shorts or novellas? Particularly in #sff#scifi#fantasy I'm looking at opencall hashtags but none seem to be on writing.
@inkican I was too much of a coward to self publish but I did focus on sending short stories to magazines and anthologies and eventually got into one that pays sfwa qualifying rates. Its easier to have a short story or novella accepted than a novel.
@dilmandila Good call, thanks - Which story and which magazine? I've been submitting things to diff SFWA-recognized magazines for 8 years and I'm still looking for a positive response.
Well this is kind of incredible. Bill Willingham, creator and owner of Fables (the multi award winning DC Vertigo comics series) has put the IP out into the public domain.

I never had the opportunity to read The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel series, so I was quite excited to discover this graphic novel adaptation of the first novel. The story was so intriguing and interesting, I really enjoyed it ! I was really impressed by the depth of the storyline, as well as the use of worldwide mythologies.
I finished this book last night and loved it. It's set in an alternative Victorian-era world where magic is real. The world is like ours though in that women can't vote and the lowers classes have pretty crappy lives. This book is about three sisters who decide to try to use witchcraft to get the vote for women, but the story turns into way more than that. Fun magic system. It explores family dynamics, power, and is super feminist. Highly recommend. @bookstodon#Bookstodon#Fantasy#Witches
Today's queer small press review! Apprentice's Luck" by K.L. Noone:
"A gentle tale about a young magician coming into his power, and finding love along the way. Throw in a little court intrigue and a plot to overthrow a good ruler, and it's quite an enjoyable read."
Hey #Bookstodon - Currently in India and purchasing #books to bring home. Planning to buy "The Priory of the Orange Tree" by Samantha Shannon. I've been wanting to read it but the library waiting list is 1,000 miles long. My question is whether it is worth also buying it's sequel "A Day of Fallen Night" as well. Both are CRAZY cheap but quite thick. I also don't usually purchase both books in a series before reading one. Thanks!

"Remnants of a Separation" by Aanchal Malhotra
Your point has definitely been on my mind - get things I can't get elsewhere. I'm going to research on some translated books from Indian languages before coming back to the US.
