Deeper and deeper into and people, I went into the Imperial Palace for a special performance of (雅楽), imperial court and of mainland origin that have been performed there since the Heian Period over a thousand years ago. An acquaintance who is a Shintō priestess (see photo) from Nara played two types of traditional flutes that sustain an eerie or higher-worldly atmosphere. The relatively slow and deliberate movements of the mostly male dancers in many-layered gorgeous contumes stand in contrast with the frenetic tempo of modern . We experience as the pace of transformation, and that brief time transfixed with the Gagaku performance was but an interlude from an ancient era in a workday preparing for university classes and a keynote address. Photos will have to suffice to evoke the special atmosphere.

The video is made using a still picture of a dimly lit, antique looking library wall. The wall is illuminated by a row of hanging Edison lightbulbs. The books on the shelves appear to be arranged somewhat haphazardly. Partially covering the library image, in the center of it, is a black frame with a darker, semi-transparent background which adds a worn look to the picture behind it. In this frame are a set of captions in antique gold with a black outline, which read in this order: "Looking for a new indie author to support? Check out my high fantasy series, Below the Heavens! Here’s what you’ll find inside: A detailed world crafted from scratch with its own unique magic system and political struggles. A realm full of dragons, spirits, magical auramasters, and battles for power and control! A charismatic protagonist using his quick wits to try to survive in this tumultuous world and find his way back home. The edited cover is an illustration of a landscape that is dark, a sprawling castle with a kingdom surrounding it, misty clouds twisting between structures. In the sky framing the tallest center spire is a vast circular halo made of glowing flame and light. The captions on these frames of the video read "Love high fantasy series? Here's what's on the table!" The next frames include a video of mountains with a dark cloudy sky in the background, large pines and other trees in the foothills and midground, and a field of wheat with a large, rusted farm-grade rolling sprinkler in it on the foreground.
